Guys, a confusion running through my mind: How many days expected to change from "Not needed at this time" to "In Progress" for background check? Should this even be expected in the first place?

No, there is no standard timeline. Every case is different and the processing time is different. Just check your profile regularly and update us if you see any changes.

And also it seems that I don't actually understand my application statuses, like "not started" or "not needed" or "meds passed". I have now the following:

Application/profile status: Open // I understand this
Review of eligibility: Review in Progress // this means that an officer looks through my application and documents for completeness, right?
Review of medical results: Not needed at this time // I understand this
Review of submitted documents: [empty] // why is it empty?
Scheduling an interview: Not needed at this time // will I need an interview? I haven't heard about it.
A background check is needed: Not needed at this time // I understand this
Final decision: Not Started // I understand this


Could you please comment how to interpret the underlined?

Yes, that is what review of progress means. However, don't expect that status to change until your application is approved. I have said that a LOT of times already.

About the submitted documents, not sure. Ideally, it should say "No additional documents are needed at this time".

Interviews are extremely rare for EE applicants. Since the dawn of EE, I have heard of only 2 EE applicants being called in for an interview.

Yes, IMO. You can visit Canada on an existing visa while your PR application is in process without any repercussions.

When can we realistically expect our applications to be approved? Sometime in January?

January is NOT realistic at all. The "normal" processing time is 6 months.

Or when I submitted an additional document, particularly PCC from Singapore which is on Nov 11? My meds has passed last Oct 28 and addtl doc status was "provided" but background check is still "not started" from Oct 14 to date. Shall i be counted on the Nov applicants or Oct?!

I reported technical difficulty but they are not responding back. :-[

I am still not able to submit my application, its been 4 days now...
When i click on Transmit and Pay, it says Server Error, service is currently down.

Not sure what to do.
Is any one else facing the same issue

"Processing", IMO, starts right after you receive your AOR. You should most certainly consider yourself an October applicant.

Digital Photo - The final frame size of the photo should be at least 35mm x 45mm. The photograph must show a full front view of the head and tops of shoulders. The size of the head, from chin to crown, must be between 31mm and 36mm. The physical dimensions in pixels must be at least 420 x 540. The final size of the image should not be less than 60KB. The file should be submitted in JPEG format.

Well, shouldn't be an issue but try to have the photo as close as possible to the specified dimensions.

Thanks, Raj. So as I see it usually takes several months to get your file transferred to the "local" visa office.
Do you happen to know starting from which stage the application is reviewed only by "local" visa officers? Is it after the review of eligibility?
