Hi, there's a question asked by a gentleman in another forum that I would like to verify here please:

"Does EI qualify as income for the purposes of maintaining the minimum income for sponsorship?"

Notes:

1. He is talking about the EI after termination of employment
2. The question is in general, not specifically for the year 2020 only

Thanks

So with your "Notes", no EI needs to be deducted from income line 150. It doesn't count as income to maintain minimum for PGP sponsorship.

The exception is for 2020 as you have pointed out.

Thank you for the clarification.
Just so I understood correctly: Let's say the income in line 150 would have been 50,000 (if the gentleman continued to work through the year) and EI taken for the same year is, say 10,000 (as the employment is terminated), the line 150 would now show: 50,000-10,000=40,000 as an income? Thanks
