Hello guys, my name is Nitin. I am aspiring to get Canadian PR, and I have met the initial requirements to apply.

IELTS score : L 9 R 8.5 S 7 W 7.5

ECA done

2 years 1 month relevant field experience done.

Age 25 years

My NOC level code is 5241. My profession is 3D animation artist.

CRS Score 414.

I applied on 24th October via Express Entry. Awaiting for PNP because with such a score I hardly got any chance.
Applied PEI too. Not being too impatient, but the process does takes time. I got family(brother) in Ontario. Expecting
OINP. What chances do candidates like me have who have such a score? Any suggestions appreciated.

Hello Raj,

The quota for the three streams FSW + CEC + FST is actually 73,700 not 92,000 (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/notices/2016-10-31.asp)

Also do not forget that not every ITA is equal to 1 immigrant. There are people who decline their invitations and there are invitations that include more than one migrant. As far as I know spouses and dependent children also eat at that quota. I think it might be safe to assume that each ITA is the equivalent of 1.5 immigrants. (I don't think we have enough evidence to make a very educated guess on the actual number of ITA vs PRs issued). The only data that I see that testifies to something similar is from the year end report of 2015: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/reports/ee-year-end-2015.asp

Therefore:

For FSW+CEC+FST the number of ITA per month should be 73,700/(12*1.5) = 4094
For PNP the number of ITA per month should be 30600/(12*1.5) = 1700

So I would expect the number of draws to be twice a month with roughly 2900 ITA.

I think this ramp up is temporary in order to catch up on lost time. They were working hard at the last half of 2016 to clear pre EE backlog. I expect that the applications then required far more processing and therefore time consuming. So they are behind on their quota for 2017, but with the rate they are going I expect them to catch up pretty quickly.

I would be happy for everyone if I am wrong since Canada is great, but that's what the numbers tell me. Please let me know what you think! :)

Oops. Looks like the link that I referred to had the wrong number then. Thanks for pointing out. +1

Try to improve your IELTS, a score of 9 in all areas would boost your score tremendously.

He already has CBL 9 on all skills.
But he seems to be loosing 50 points for transferability.
reasons are following:
1. Not enough work experience (you need 3+ years of work experience to get full 50 points there)
2. University diploma was not assessed as Master and he does not have 2 post secondary diplomas for that.

So he will get +25 points within a year (once his work experience will increase). But to cash the other 25 points he will need to study as well.

even with +25 score would be 440, but question is if that is enough?
Any chances of Ontario nomination this year ?

Ontario should reopen soon (their Human Priorities stream is closed for almost a year). You might also try to check for a Master study program in Canada (at the end it will give you 30 points for Canada studies and those 25 missing points for Education).

Hey everyone, I haven't done my IETL yet but I've worked out that if we manage to get the maximum for the tests I should have 404 points. A lawyer has told me that I should be eligible to apply under the 'federal skilled worker' scheme but I'm not sure it makes a difference if you are going in to the express entry. Does anyone know? Can anyone offer any advice on increasing scores apart from the usual having a job offer or getting a second language score. I can't wait that long :P I looked at provincial nominee in British Columbia but they require you to have a job offer or be a masters or PhD student of a Canadian University. I will have finished my masters by 2019 as it's part time but then may lose more points for my age :(

Thanks in advance :D

I don't think taking another IELTS will improve his score significantly because he has already achieved CLB 9 and CLB 10. What will boost his score is work experience.

On what basis have you labeled this person illegible???
Last year people with exact 400 points have received PT NOI from Ontario.
Those having 400 and above are eligible to receive PT NOI from Ontario.

Thank you both. I hadn't thought of that, I have been so focused on British Columbia. Thanks again, I really appreciate this, and the 400 is without needing a job offer or being a student in Ontario?

400 CRS points with atleast 1 year paid work experience. Job offer in Canada is not required. If you have, then you get some additional points for it.
