My profile:
Masters degree. 4+ years of experience, Age is below 30. Single.
IELTS screwed me :(

MY IELTS score:L=8, R=9,W=6.5,S=7.5 . I knew I missed couple of questions in listening but I was expecting 7.5 in writing. I thought I did a good job.
My CRS as of now comes as 405.

If I had gotten at least 7 in writing, my CRS would have been 450.
We all know how ridiculous this sounds and many has gone through this.
I'm thinking if it is worth applying for re-evaluation. It's costly to apply. Does it even work? Do they change score often?
Has anyone done that before?
Should I just re-appear and try to get writing of min 7 ?

I dont know from which part if the world you are from but I would like to share my wife's experience with you. She fell short of CLB9 as she scored 6.5 in writing. She applied for reevaluation and her writing score got revised to 7. So it worked in her case and she got entire money refunded from IDP. We are from India.

Hi rebel Hero,

I have a question. My CRS score is 427 at the moment. I have been given 2 or more degree by ECA since my second degree is a PG and not masters. I am 36 years old so lost points on that. Have been awarded spouse points as well. My IELTS score is :

L-8.5
R-7.5
S-7.0
W-7.0

Do you think retaking the IELTS would make any difference. Also what sectional increase in IELTS would increase my score if any. What should i focus on.?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi eager,

Looking at your profile, you already have CLB 9+ in all four sections of IELTS. So I don't see any room for further improvement of your score. I feel your age is of major concern here as you will be losing 5 points every year. The only options I can think of are making your wife as primary applicant(if she is well qualified and has CLB 9+ in IELTS) or getting PNP or getting a job in Canada.

Currently, OINP has paused nominations. Otherwise, they invite people of certain professions with 400+ CRS score.

Else, you can just hope CRS score to go down during draws which doesn't seem to be possible looking at the current scenario.

You can think about Australia immigration too. There is a forum called "Australia Immigration" in "Express Entry" which has lot of information regarding it.

Hi, I'm from India too. I gave IELTS from IDP too. I'm definitely going to do re-evaluation and take a chance on some money too. I think I will still go for new IELTS exam just in case. You never know what could be result of second exam.

No, I calculated by myself. I haven't created my profile yet.
Thanks.

How many years of work experience do you have. I would also think you get a score higher than 465 if you have over 3 years work experience

NO, but it is other way around, your masters can be considered as Post grad diploma

Aren't you credited more points than the "2 or more post secondary" category if you have a master's degree?

Hi, I am an Indian CA and US CPA. would it qualify for 2 or more degree OR professional degree by WES? anyone has any idea?

yes, but this should be evaluated and proved by the WES evaluation.

That is why we have the ECA evaluation to know what is the exact equivalent of our educational credentials in Canada. Remember that Canada has a different curriculum. No matter how high our degrees may be in our countries, Canada will have to check if this is enough to equal their standards, thus the WES evaluation. You need to apply for WES evaluation to find that out.

^ better wait while you apply for PNP applications. More chances than waiting the CRS points requirement draw to drop. You can wait for OINP on November, CRS requirement is just 400 points. Good Luck!
