I really do hope so, we do have a somewhat similar timeline. However, BG is not in progress for any of us even those in process for the second time so I was couldn't help but notice yours is in fact in progress . Hoping for an update soon...

My background check kicked into process same time as my medical passed .... I hope it wasn't a glitch

I am new to this post. But I am also applying as a FWS out of Canada. I tend not to check my application status a whole lot because I don't like being stressed so I don't know most of the dates where my status changed but here is my current status:

Review of submitted documents No additional documents are needed at this time
Scheduling an interview Not needed at this time
A background check is needed In Progress

My ECAS Status is App Received
We received your application for permanent residence on March 16, 2015.
We started processing your application on March 17, 2015.
Medical results have been received.

I submitted my app without the FBI PC which I just got yesterday. Will submit it today via Case Specific Enquiry.

My background went to "in progress" in early June, about a month after I submitted my application. I am applying from the Dominican Republic.

BG takes a little longer for people applying from outside of Canada, mine took almost a month to get signed off.

I think the background check is the most important part of the deal because they need to check our past. If we are not criminals, etc etc
And they need to check it in every country.
The duration of the controls depends on the speed of the answers provided by every country that was interviewed.

Be patient guys. I think it is a good luck to reduce the process to the maximum of 6 months. Instead of at least 20 months for african countries.

Did you get the generic letter asking you to send the passport to Ottawa? Does it mention your LVO?
