In Edmonton public transport system is very good, almost every area has public transport access and markets and supermarkets are in very area, area wise immigrant people living as I know a bit is as below but immigrant proportion in these areas are minor.

South side: Indian and Pakistanis are almost here, we call it desi area.

North Side: Arab and some African

East: African, Chinese and Philipanos

West: Very few immigrants

Every area is good as far as facilities are concerned, public transport is every where available with huge markets.

This is fantastic information!

I'll be arriving with my wife and one and a half years daughter. My biggest worry is to arrange the temporary accommodation in advance so that we don't have to wander on arrival. Any options other than hotel and motel?

Well come to Edmonton,

Edmonton is a blue collar job city and yea, Warehousing job is good and pay is higher in warehousing, your husband need to take a four or six week courses in warehousing and inventory control which will bring good result for job. although minimum wages are $10 + per hour and in ware housing minimum wage is 15+ per hour and over time which is good to get more money.

As far as cost is concern it depends, apartment, basement or a full house all vary in terms of rent. although a moderate and simple life style can cost 2000 to 2500 monthly all expenses. As soon as you land. must do all necessary documentation eg.g. SIN, Bank account, Health card, finding a suitable home, then go to Alberta Works near hour home to discuss about job prospects and training I believe following people train in warehousing: and it is free of cost.

Newcomer is right again .. Usually they mention in the job details if you require a certification for the position or not.

For up-gradation you can apply for loan or grant (subject to eligibility). Student loans are available interest free whereas you don't pay back anything if you get a grant, it's for people on low income and certain other factors also count. You need to visit the universities to see what program's they offer and then you can apply for loan/grant. They will guide you about the whole process.
to avail these loans and grant one has to stay for one year then one can apply for this???what do you say

Nope that's not required you can start as soon as you get your processing of loan or grants done and before the semester starts..
