Guys,

My wife who is currently in Canada sponsored me, I am currently working in KSA.
As soon as I got my visa approved I am planning to enter Canada and come back to KSA as I still have my work here.
I wanted to atleast stay for 1 more year in order to give my current employer an ample time to get replacement on my position.
But what I have seen on this site is that you need to cancel your Gulf Visa prior to entering Canada???

Can someone clarify this please.

Yes. Once your PRV is issued, you will have to prove that you are moving to Canada, and leaving Saudi Arabia permanently. You will be asked to show your Exit-only visa. Also, after landing in Canada you must live there for at least two years within a five-year period to maintain your Permanent Resident status.

Actually I already received letter from them asking for my original passport in which I already sent to them.
My visa valid for entry till November 18, 2014. What I thought is I can enter Canada and come back to Saudi Arabia to file my resignation.
Thank you man.

If you can get an exit/re-entry visa, then yes, you can enter Canada and then return to Riyadh to file your resignation. My understanding is that you have to wait to receive your PR card before leaving Canada though. Perhaps someone with direct experience on this could chime in.

Hello Treboresoj,

Since immigration rules and regulations have changed and are changing. CIC has become very strict over the last few years - Since last year, an approved family sponsorship is required to stay with the sponsor for min of 2 years. I cannot speak if this is monitored but any suspicion can/may affect your status.

Always wise to double check the requirements and also clarify your intentions with CIC before proceeding .

Eman....
Actually i am holding multiple exit re entry which allows me to leave KSA whenever needed...i travelled alot for work purposes and even for pleasure... I will wait for my original passport to be returned from the embassy in which for sure they will give me docs which includes rules & regulations including guidelines...
As per the last mail from them my visa is ready and will expire on Nov 18 hence i still have enough time...

thank you for your reply

If you CORP has condition 51, you will need to live with your wife for 2 years in Canada after landing. No one is sure how this will be enforced but I say leaving for a year would be an issue if you have this.

He can live anywhere in the world with his wife as long as they are cohabiting. It doesn't have to be in Canada. If his wife is ready to go to KSA with him then he can land and they can go to KSA. If she is a citizen then his time spent even in KSA with his wife will count toward his PR requirements as well. Condition 51 only states you need to cohabit with your sponsor for a minimum of 2 years it does not state it has to be done in Canada.

Ah, *censored word*. I try to be helpful and there I go screwing it up... Thanks Alurra for the correction.

@ Treboresoj - how long were you married before you submitted your application? Do you have any children together?

If you have condition 51, you need to cohabitate with your wife for 2 years. Will your wife being going to live with you KSA? Or will she stay in Canada?

Don't worry, if CIC hasn't asked for the cancellation of Saudi residency. I noticed here that CIC has asked immigrants from UAE and Oman for cancellation of their Gulf residencies before CIC could issue them the visa.

So I don't want to give you the wrong information again but I think you might have to be concerned with Condition 51.

Here is some information on it:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob480.asp#sec02.3

Basically, some people get their CORP and on it it has Condition 51. Meaning after you get PR, you need to live with your spouse for 2 years or else they can take your PR away. So either you need to live with your spouse in Canada, or she needs to go live with you in KSA.

This condition is pretty new and there hasn't been too many examples of what they are doing if you don't follow it yet.
