plus everyone needs a spring break
Or the IRCC leadership is trying to make a point that the layoffs will be catastrophic by slowing things down to get noticed and receive more headcount.
And think about it, Canada is already generous with how short a PR must wait to apply for citizenship, they don't want to appear too easy or eager to welcome citizens. But Canada has the easiest immigration laws to be honest. You can immigrate and become a citizen within the first 5 years of moving here. Try doing that in any other country?

Nothing. Which is unfortunately normal. Most of the time one’s application takes to process is actually spent in the queue where there is absolutely nothing being done on your application. Its just parked until an officer picks it up again.
Are you really getting this wound up when you only applied in December?

Anything less than six months is pretty darn good. While I understand everyone wants it to go quickly, at this stage you're stressing yourself out for no reason.

Put down the computer and go outside for a bit.

1- Pretty funny that I’m being told to go outside by a person who’s active on 157 threads and posts half a dozen posts a day. I also just came back from a walk so your wish came true before I even read it.

2- While you are right that I’m getting wound up, you just don’t have a crystal ball the way it seems like you think you do. The reason I say that is because you don’t know what is going on in someone’s life. I’m not staying on top of my application every day because of my eagerness to post on Snapchat with my new passport, but I have to travel to commission a big project in the US in about a month. My country of origin passport is expired and my single piece of ID I have aside from it from my country of origin is also expired. They most likely wouldn’t renew either of them since I haven’t been to the country in about a decade.

Moral of the story: focus on your business and drop the idea that you think you know other people’s motives and feelings.

Congratulations on your success! Just a while ago you were an OINP student candidate and now you are going to commission a big project in the US.

Have you seen this? - https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/become-canadian-citizen/apply/urgently.html
I am not an immigration lawyer but you do seem to qualify for urgent processing; but then I don't got no crystal ball and frankly, I didn't read it in detail.
Maybe talk to your employer's immigration team to look into the details for you?

I request you to be polite in your response.

WantToImmigrate thank you for being polite and I like your responses they are very helpful.

I do feel for the other gentleman though, I mean he is right in that folks who are on the thread all day advise others to go out for walks is not cool either. We all have reasons beyond just the citizenship to feel genuinely anxious about, sometime life altering circumstances. I agree with you, everyone should be polite here. After all our main objective should be to help each other.

If it makes some of you feel better…I just got my test invite this weekend, and my BG is still not complete. :)

Nonetheless, I suspect at the rate that things are going for most of you, and even myself, that all our applications will still beat the average processing timeline stated by the IRCC, which in itself will be a huge accomplishment. We all have the same goals here; let’s remember that!

Kindness is such a simple act with little effort, but has a tremendous impact. Wouldn't the world be a great place if everyone led with kindness?
I feel for everyone with tough circumstances and life altering situations. And as @WantToImmigrate suggests, it definitely doesn't hurt to request an expedition of the application. Being unable to attain a national passport or ID is quite serious. The individual is technically stateless in that situation, even if the are a PR.

For the folks who were asked to provide fingerprints and now have the background check completed, how long did this process take you?
I have my FP collected on Feb 27, RCMP sent out the result to the Vancouver office on Mar 4. But I am still waiting.. ;'(
