Here is my time line in Ottawa office
I sent my application (individual) on December 2013
I received a study book after one week,
They sent me a notice on June 22, 2014 to appear and write the citizenship test on July 23, 2014.
The test was very easy, I got the full score 20/20, after the test the agent asked me some simple questions then she told me to wait from one to 3 months for invitation letter to take the oath, I'm still waiting for any news ............

Here is my timeline:

Application Sent :05 Dec 2013
Application Received :09 Dec 13

ECAS update for Processing Date :21 Feb 2014

Letter for test 9th October,2014 test was easy but have to read book. Couple of questions like (dates)confused me. After test officer called us ( me and my wife) for interview , just asked us general question and she gaveus oath invitation letter for October 19.interview timing was just 5 to 7 minutes. But she focused on our passport stamp to match our exit/entry details with our application. We travelled two times in between four years before applying for citizenship.

Passed exam and an interview (Hamilton)
Exam questions was not a rock science, but you do need read a book at least twice quite carefully :)
"citizenshipcounts ca" - this one quite good in simulation of real test, so if you got it 20/20 you'd rather pass official one ;)

Exam procedure takes about 1hr (starting from checking invitation letters, etc), about 30 mins of waiting and 10 mins of interview. Officer check landing paper, passport, OHIP, PR, driver's license (originals of what we submit with application), asked about current occupation (my wife has no full time employment but volunteering at school). Check stamps at passport (we prepared translations from Spanish for Mexico, but seems she know Spanish), only interested in last 4 years (my wife has some Egypt vacations ones, but officer was not interested in them as it was 10y ago)
Roughly it takes about 2hrs in total.

We've been asked if we're staying in Canada for next 1-2 month. Answered yes, and was advised we could expect oath letter during it...
