My background: I did not meet the RO, so my application was not being considered for normal processing times. It took approx 75 days and there was no progress.
I had to travel to the US for business purposes, for which I notified IRCC via webform couple of times, but that was not considered, because they need the supporting documents according to their criteria.
I provided with the documents, and one key document was missing, so they responded in 24 business hours. I submitted it, and they emailed me with approval within 48 hrs or so.
Meanwhile, I could not link my application to gckey, so I was stuck with only getting information whenever I contact them. The intermediary option of checking via inspect tools was of no help as the status never changed there. But, I got the automated email stating the request was sent.
Unfortunately, IRCC agents do not have any information or access to whether the requests is approved or rejected, so you don't get any updates from them, until IRCC officers change the status in the backend. In my case, they never were able to tell me if the request was approved or not. They won't be able to tell you anything regards to status of application more than what you see on gckey or perhaps find out using the automated system.
All other webform queries take a day to 15 days in some cases. But, if you submit urgency request with all the required documents, they respond pretty quickly(from my experience!).
Marking your application for urgent won't harm at all. Though it is at the discretion of the officer whether to approve the application or not.
Thanks! This is giving me some hope. When you submitted an urgency request, did they notify you?
I submitted a normal pr renewal application 2 weeks ago but am trying to mark it as urgent.
