I guess I am unfortunately joining this little group. I say unfortunately not because of you guys (I'm sure you all are great :D) but because of how slow the Dar Es Salaam office seems to be.

Let me back up and introduce myself. I am a Canadian sponsoring my Ugandan husband, we have a baby boy together. I just received sponsor approval today - yay!!!! My husband is a permanent resident of the USA so we were hoping for processing in Ottawa which seems to be a fast office but unfortunately that didn't happen and it has been sent to Dar.

I've read through this thread and doesn't seem to be many people approved so far. Does anyone have any idea of approximate timelines for approval? Does Dar send out AOR2 confirmation? Have you guys received any contact at all from them (eg. doc request, re medical)? Has anyone heard of them doing any interviews yet (an interview is a big fear of mine, not because we have anything to hide, it just adds so much more time to the processing)? I guess I am just basically looking for any info you can share with a newbie like me :)

My only dealing with the Dar office so far was to ask a question when we were in the process of applying and it took them a full month to get back to me to say they wouldn't answer my question! Obviously not a good first impression of what it will be like to deal with them!

Thanks for any information or advice anyone can give. I wish speedy processing for all in the Dar Es Salaam VO family :)

Back on your case. if your husband is living in US, then that is better for you guys since you can see eachother easly.(you can go to US and he can come here as a visitor), don't take it bad but on my view point you wont affected like what we are going through.Imagine if your Hubby was in Uganda?do you Imagine those tickets?moreover he could not get a visas to come here easly.
I heard some people were processed by Dar within 7 months even a few forum members here had that case. the problems start if anything missing in your file or some thing filled wrongly. but on my view point I think that even in such cases they need to come out with a way to process files faster as soon as they can because separating a family for 2 years, can bring many other consequences.
In your cases if everything is in order 100% you might hear from them in 6 or 7 month from when you applied.but if any problem, no one can know may be 1 year maybe 2 maybe more. with Nairobi we use to be able to guess based on other processed cases.but now to hard to know. Be blessed. :)

Welcome to the Group.the group too is small if you compare with other forums like India, Ghana, etc..when it was under Nairobi, the family was somehow bigger.unfortunately many members disappeared completely once they got their Visa, but on the other end I understand them(busy with their daily life).

Thank you so much for the reply lonelyguy. I do understand what it is like for you. My husband has only recently moved to the USA. We were in a long distance relationship when he was in Uganda for many years (on a side note it was much easier for him to get his PR in the USA than it is for Canada). I do appreciate that now I can visit him much more easily in the USA, however he has still never been able to visit me in Canada. He had a few failed visa attempts while he was still in Uganda to visit me and was denied entry at the airport even after he became a US permanent resident (they were worried he would stay as he didn't have enough ties to the US).

I really feel for everyone from non-visa exempt countries going through this process. Not only are the processing times usually significantly longer than other countries, in most cases you can't get a visa to wait out the process together like many seem able to do. Your timeline is distressing. I hope and pray you get some good news soon.

So the best I can hope for is about 7 months from the time I submitted the application? Any chance things will be quicker because my husband lives in the US? Or do you think it will be slowed down because they have another country to check? Thanks for your help.

We are at 10 months with no sign of ppr yet! Medicals will expire next month! Have had 2 sets of notes that are showing no problems with the medical being passed. Not sure why it is so slow! First wedding anniversary is at the end of March and it would be so nice to celebrate it together will be getting another sets of notes next week so hoping for some progress!! I know others have been waiting longer! So 7 months would be pretty lucky!

No the fact that he is in US it won't help.infact it might delay it. I know that people in US they do request them FBI fingerprint, but I don't know if in your case it will be needed as well, since the VO is not US or Otawa.
So I don't think you can have less than 7 months. infact it might be longer incase they would needs his records in US.
Just be happy that you can see him once a while, hen relax it will avoid you to stress.
Now you can see here our other friend saying that it is almost a year for them.

Thanks for the replies Tun701 and Lonelyguy.

I would be glad if we are approved before his medical expires. It was very expensive to do and my husband had to travel a great distance to find an approved doctor. We submitted his FBI report with the application along with everything else upfront and tons of relationship proof so hope they don't need to request anything else. I don't think we have any big red flags so will hope for a speedy decision.

Tun701, I'm sorry to hear you are still waiting too. I hope you will receive the best anniversary gift and are able to be together in Canada. Is there any indication in your notes of what they are waiting on? I am thinking of ordering notes next month. I know it's really early but I'm very curious and it's only $5. Do you think I'll see anything that quickly or am I wasting my time?

Please keep us updated on your progress. It helps to know others are going through the same thing and to share in their joys. Best wishes to all.

No there has nothing in the notes that are indicating the slowness, that's the frustrating part! The notes say Sponsor Eligibility Decision: Passed GCMS/Foss check: relevant information found: PA has previous visitor refusals; Application locked in on 2015/05/08. Correct fees received and allocated. medical is associated to the file. SPR and PA married on 2015/03/28. Marriage certificate is on file. SPR is a Canadian citizen residing in Canada. R11 based on country of nationality: Nairobi Case forwarded to VO for processing.

The notes show that we have requested notes before and that our MP has requested an update on the file. We had contacted our MP because we didn't receive an aor2 from Dar Es Salaam.

Hoping that the next set of notes shows that eligibility has been passed!! Then we know we are close! The notes only cost $5 so even if you order them early at least you will see what the officers notes say!

That is extremely frustrating especially after all this time. It would be great if you see eligibility passed next time as that means no interview. I was wondering if/when we would receive aor2? How long did you wait before contacting your MP? Does Dar normally send aor2? It would be nice to get that so I at least know they received the file. Other than that I guess I shouldn't expect to hear anything for several months then? Ordering notes next month will at least give me something to look forward to, I'm so curious what they will say about us. Keep us updated on your progress. I'm hoping for a great anniversary for you :D
