Quick question: On Sunday I sent an email requesting my file number--since our application has been received in Syria for 5 months and they still did not provide my husband with a file number. How long does it usually take for the embassy to respond to inquiries? I'm going from all this waiting ??

This also happened to me, they received my husband's file in December 2010, and we kept on waiting for the file number and they never sent it to us, so I sent them an e-mail after 4 months asking for our file number and they did send it to me in a e-mail.
normally it would take between 10-14 days for the embassy to reply enshallah you will get your husband's file number very soon, just be patient dear .

I agree. it's like if Christmas fell on a Saturday . they would give them and extra day off

yeah...... i know nagz..... i am so broken down.... you have no idea dear, i was a Porsche on the highway of life and i realized *censored word* i got a flat tire but i got no tires to change it with....... i made the mistake of working myself up and becoming overly excited and when the situation broke down i deflated......... i tried everything to get my mind of off things but it took a TOLL on me, to be honest in the past 14 days i think i slept for 20 hours.... even if i want to i cant....... i decided to keep busy, i started walking around after work,by the lake... fresh air , trying to get my mind off..... but its not doing anything......

i dont know....

just a bad experience i guess....... i am trying to get out of this funk which is why i stopped checking the forum, since it would make it worst.... but i still checked, and read...... like today , just now you said Saturday gem is going back home....... that just broke me down,



anyways im happy for all of us that at least things are going well, i hope you are doing well too nagham

Lol i wish it was saturday!!! Im leaving on the 4th which is monday and arriving on the 5th ishalllah!!!

Sohrab i know its hard trust me its super hard no one said it would be easy if only you knew how many times i broken down just because i miss my husband so much the fact that i could only hear and see him on video yet i cant physically see him and what not it really does suck and on july 5th inshallah it will mark my 10 months and 4 days away from eachother. How i think if we spent that time together how nice and peaceful our life would have been honestly we were both growing together but apart if you know what I mean. But alhamdulilah inshallah very soon all of this will be over and done with.. Inshallah!!!

Cant wait any longer really and i wish and pray everyday that inshallah my husband and i will come back together!!

I really feel for you my friend... I know how eager you were to join your wife. Really I don't know what to tell you.. we're all going through the same thing. Distance is hard... Like Geminibella said we all broke down at some point but that's life. like the saying says when life throws lemons at you make lemonade or smg like that lool. hopefully it's over soon for all of us inshallah

Hello everyone,
I am new here and I am also sponsoring my husband; I've been keeping track of this thread for the past few months. Recently, I have noticed something and I think you all might need to know as well. I have found out that for every inquiry one sends to the embassy, the file falls behind its regular schedule for at least 2-3 weeks. This is because every time they pull a file out of the line, in order to check and answer to the applicant's question, they have to put it back AT THE END OF THE LINE ! in addition, in case the number of the inquiries increases not only that specific file is put behind, but also it will consume more time and causes a delay in processing the rest of the files as well. SO PLEASE !!!! FOR OUR OWN SAKE , lets keep the inquiries as low as possible, and usually this is exactly what the embassy adds to the end of their reply emails.
By the way our file has been in Damascus since April 19, 2011, like vivi's file , in case any one wishes to know
We are all on the same boat and it's really comforting to see you're not alone.
and by the way I love this thread, cause it feels like family here ...

I dunno if it is really true about emails and inquiries making the processing time longer like many people have said over the months, but for my file i didn't send one single email to them the entire time it was processing. Not to check if they received my documents or ask any questions or anything. And as you can see my file was processed a lot faster than a lot of people..so just a thought!

I haven't sent them any emails or requests and have been waiting for 8 months and my case is pretty staight forward too.I don't think all the people who's processing took longer than yours have sent several emails and requests either.
I think sometimes it's just a matter of luck.I hope some of yours rubs off on me pretty soon
