Here is the most up to date information-my husband in lebanon called the syrian embassy in damascus this morning their time, they said that they have prepared all the immigration files to be sent to Lebanon to be processed and the immigration officers that were working on the files in damascus are also going to Lebanon to continue working on the files. According to this woman they are not anticipating any delays in processing the family sponsorship files but lets hope they are telling the truth.

I don`t think she`ll lose anything by going there; however, the major dilemma would be for me the office for the medicals!

Did not you already send the results? Are you waiting for a clearance from embassy? Will not you lose time?

Does she mean all files from all regions? Why do not they clarify the situation to us simply?

yes i think she means from all the regions since they are closing the embassy and moving all their immigration officers to lebanon. and all the visas will be issued from lebaon.

Thanks for the reply Sohrab. Do you think I should send my wife to Damascus to do the Medical exam AND go to the embassy to try to make them process her application as an "emergency". It would kind of be a "two birds one stone" thing. Do you think I should do this ?

Also, what about her police records? I know that police records only last for 4 months. She sent me the police records a week before I submitted the whole sponsorship application. Should she also make a new police record paper?

One last question: Would you recommend me to make my wife try and do a "Temporary resident visa" so that she can come here as a visitor and then do things from here?

I am asking all these things because if she goes to Damascus she must profit the most of the occasion because she won't be able to travel back and forth from Homs to Damascus easily.

Thanks for reading/answering. Much appreciated.

honestly i would think its best for her to go to the embassy while she is there, i mean she is doing medical anyways so why not go to the embassy and tell them her case and where she lives which is very dangerous, honestly i think visitor is useless, they dont process it easily , its just a waste of time and money, especially since she is waiting for PR card, its different for every country but the last couple of people from syria never renewed security, i think arab countries are a bit different, i dont think she should renew it, then again she can ask them when she is at the embassy right?

reaaaaaaaally someone in december already got the approval??!!!!! :o that's great news....but on the site they say they currently process Nov 22nd applications ??? nobody understands this process and their way.... hope our turn will be soon.....don't worry laleh, they will find solutions i'm sure; and maybe it's better if they keep the file and don't send it right away; u don't want it to get lost or arrive to a closed embassy with noone able to transfer it after!!!! they keep it just to know where exactly they will send it....i believe the time lost at the beginning will be gained in the process, don't worry :) i hope they will keep our file as much they want in ottawa; i pray for that!!!!!

keep following the other threads and let me know also and i think u can start checking ur e-cas too; good luck!!! :-* ;D

lol i think she meant APPROVAL to be a sponsor, and not PPR :D ;)

the embassy ended the priority for Syrians 2 weeks ago!! even on the website, all that announcement about helping Canadians and their families to leave Syria as soon as possible expired; it might be too late but u won't know until u try; good luck!!

no no thats for CANADIANS in syria, shes not a canadian, shes a syrian national waiting for a PPR, that emergency never ends, its priority 24/7 365 days a year in war zones

that could make sense, lebanon doesnt do ANY immigration processing, they forward everything to syria, so lebanon would be great news also, i mean turkey is already handling 4 countries so i think 0 is better than 4 haha, who knows, like i said my best ADVICE to everyone is lets wait for an OFFICIAL statement ,
but thanks for the great update, i think out of all the people who called the embassy and all the conversations with them this one makes the most sense,

it should be yeah but then what's this expiry date for this bulletin mean?

OB 371 – December 19, 2011 (Expired)
Syria Voluntary Evacuation Procedures

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2011/ob371.asp

where one fragment was about spouses and dependent children....i think they should start considering Syrians as priority too, as they do for Iraqis....of course i wish it shouldn't b like this and the situation would calm eeeeeeeverywhere :(
