Salamtek in sha'a ALLAH sister, let everything go its way. I've been waiting for more than 13 months, and yet my wife hasn't received her medical examination request!
I have been married for more than FOUR YEARS AND TWO MONTHS, but lived together with my wife for less than FOUR MONTHS!
Anyway, get well in sha'a ALLAH, and ALLAH will help us out!

It must be so hard khalid i wish they would give us a reason or a date so we know exactly how much more were waiting instead of just waking up everyday and hoping for something that wont be true for god knows how long :-(

Let me guess her name is Kelly or something....how the ***** do they hire morons. The lady is like the current processing time in Damascus is 15 month, i am like i thought it is 13 months unless you have access to more info. she is like no but from my experience it takes 15 month and you need to wait 4-6 months minimum....i am like wooooow, she is like yeah we will contact you in December. I am like you mentioned that they emailed me, but i did not receive an email...she iss like probably it was marked as spam, i was like hmmmmm it is goverment email address, meaning .gc.ca and they inform us when something is blocked....I receive around 50 emails a day and around 1 email is spam, they inform usand they give us different choices. After arguing she asked me for my email address, which I gave her my home address(different from what I have on the app). She is like i will email them to ask them resend the email and get back to you....


I think she never dealt with immigration process and she had to take over the files. I think she is a waste of time. 8 month ya3mme!!!!I said ok will wait for you and hung up

She keeps contradicting herself in everything she says.. Shes like well til it gets approval from missisauga +13 mnths im like well that doesnt even make sense because the processing time on the website of 13 mnths is strictly from the in process date

She clearly skipped training and got hired !! It sucks we have to deal with people uninformed about something so sensitive to us !!

Yes I have. In last July I e-mailed them and they told me "Be Patient".
I'm going to e-mail them again tomorrow, in sha'a ALLAH.

Dont know how they lost it, but yeah. I thought confidentiality is one of a concern to Canada. Ok, if they lost it, why the hell did not they tell her.

I started the process back in December.

sohrab: they sent the acknowledgement letter by mail and not email.

I told my MP that I did not receive anything and she is like I will email the embassy

My wife lives in Tehran. As far as I know DHL, ARAMEX, TNT are very slow and have only 1 pickup per week. These companies don't accept to send passport to abroad and they have to deliver it to Canada Embassy in Tehran to ship it to Syria. Embassy of Canada in Tehran does not accept passport directly from public.

i know how it works, they take to passport to the canadian embassy in tehran and they send it to syria, once they recieve it they call the courier which calls you....... and no my friend they have more frequent services than that, thats not true at all, 1 pick up per week in tehran? come on its the capital with 12 million people

Citizens are allowed to live abroad during the process, however they MUST show proof of moving to Canada when the sponsored person's receives the visa. This is stated in the guide.
Spouses are exempt from the minimum income and its not just for Quebec. However they must be able to show that you will be able to support the spouse, but there's no "minimum" income.

nagz, people are using the status in canada as a business method, people are paying to get married for status, and when someone decides to live abroad and they are a NATURALIZED canadian it looks suspicious so they want some type of evidence that they will return, a job, a lease, a bill payment, a credit card bill, anything that shows the person has a reason to return , it has nothing to do with income or salary

Yes, you can, but the chances are very low. Because it's hard to prove that you have strong ties to your home country, given the fact your spouse lives in Canada

While waiting for my sponsorship application, can I apply for a student visa?

Yes, you can, provided that you have an admission from a well-known canadian university, you should be able to get your visa, but you will still have to go back to your home country when your sponsorship visa is ready. otherwise it may take a while.

my medical is expiring, what do you think I should do?

Normally you should wait until the officer asks for redoing the test, however, in our discussions, we came to the conclusion that it would not hurt to redo the medical test and have the receipt ready. If they issued the visa and did not ask for the new medical, you have lost only some $200 but if they want you will be at least 5 weeks ahead of the game. In short, it is recommended to redo your medical 2 or 3 weeks prior to the expiration.

it stands for Residency Questionnaire. it's a stupid process which is exclusive to Damascus office. They want to make sure if you are still residing in Canada.

provide your detailed information in a posting under this thread, a volunteer will append your info to the list. everyone in this forum is obliged to inform everybody about any updates about their spouse sponsorship applications in Damascus. Damascus office is still active more or less and it is not closed due to the situation in Syria yet. processing time provided by the cic are not accurate at all. when it was 10 months, we had quite a few people who got their ppr in less than 6 months. check out the chart for more info.

i am in ottawa too as you know, you guys can come to Catherine street and visit me anytime with any questions but let me tell you, no one is AUTHORIZED to give information over the phone, so in most cases the mp's /representatives of the mp's contradict themselves,
they say one thing, then you mention another , they cant say yes or no, so they just agree or disagree to a point in which they think its safe to release details, dont take anything they say seriously, and i mean ANYTHING. from the time to any questions, they can guide but they dont know s***, trust me when i tell you, they are like parrots, they copy the script in front of them
