You right, I think that only Damascus office sents RQ. I have a friend who sponsored her husband from Fiji (via Australia) and she never heard about RQ.

my friend let me tell you a funny story, i work for CIC in ottawa, i called my mp and just like everyone explained my situation, and i asked when should my wife exprect the RESIDENCY Questionnaire , she was like whats that? lol i said ok never mind thanks for your help

where does your wife live? sorry to ask, but when it comes to cases in iran... tehran especially ,they call, DHL , TNT or ARAMEX, they come pick up your passport take it to the embassy and when its ready they bring it to you within 3 weeks .....

My wife lives in Tehran. As far as I know DHL, ARAMEX, TNT are very slow and have only 1 pickup per week. These companies don't accept to send passport to abroad and they have to deliver it to Canada Embassy in Tehran to ship it to Syria. Embassy of Canada in Tehran does not accept passport directly from public.

Dont know how they lost it, but yeah. I thought confidentiality is one of a concern to Canada. Ok, if they lost it, why the hell did not they tell her.

I started the process back in December.

sohrab: they sent the acknowledgement letter by mail and not email.

I told my MP that I did not receive anything and she is like I will email the embassy

hey guys as i told you my supervisor at work's sister is sponsoring her husband she went to live with him in Lebanon until the process is over. this week they emailed her apparently and said if you don't show us proof that there is a job waiting for you when you come back and proof of residency here. we are canceling your application!!! wth I thought Canadian citizens were allowed to live abroad during the process and as Quebec residents we are not required to show proof of income. guys do you k ow why they are asking her all this ?

True. Last year with aramex it took 2 months for my passport to come back from Damascus.
But you know even if this takes 6 months at least you know "when", this waiting is nothing compared to the other waiting for ppr when you have no idea "when"! Haha!

Citizens are allowed to live abroad during the process, however they MUST show proof of moving to Canada when the sponsored person's receives the visa. This is stated in the guide.
Spouses are exempt from the minimum income and its not just for Quebec. However they must be able to show that you will be able to support the spouse, but there's no "minimum" income.

Immigration processing procedures are getting harder and harder!

In 2005, a friend of mine, who is a citizen, applied to sponsor his wife from Jordan, during the processing he was in United Arab Emirates, and nothing went wrong.
Now, if you "even" live with your spouse outside Canada, your application will be cancelled!!

What a tough fact!!
