Hi everyone,
I don't think I've posted in this thread yet, but I just got SA on September 15th then checked E-CAS this morning and under my section (applicant) it says:
Application received August 8th
Medical results received

So, does this mean my file has made it to Ottawa and they're looking at it?

Hey all!just got an email this morning requesting more documents.so they must at least be looking at our application!

From me they requested a police check from the country i currently live in.

But from my sponser they requested the following,

" > SPR's residency: Evidence that your sponsor resides in Canada. This includes but is not limited to: pay stubs, T4 slips, utility bills, and banking history. Driver's licences, Property tax assessments, Social Insurance or Health Insurance cards are not sufficient. Please provide proof of your intent to return to Canada."

I'm kinda having difficulty understanding this, they are asking for evidence that my sponser resides in Canada and also evidence that she intends to return to canada??

She currently lives with me in australia,so does she just have to send intent of return?
Thanks all in advance!!

no, this is the standard way most applications are entered into ECAS. for the most part it means, the application has been entered into the system, and probably transferred. it does not mean it has started processing or an officer is looking at the file yet. you will know your file is processing when you see your status change to "in process". There are some applicants whose status' never change, so it's really not the most reliable way to determine what is going on with your file.

yes, if the sponsor does not live and work in canada, then they only need to send information about their intent to return, as it will be impossible to prove they are in canada when they are not. most likely the letter you received includes standard wording that is simply cut and paste or added based on the information needed.

Cool!thanks rhcohen!

I have another question...
Here's what they have requested from me:

"

> Police Certificate: From each country/state where the residence period has been six months or longer since the age of 18, provide an original police clearance certificate:

- Australia - Please provide Traffic History:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/australia.asp"

My question is,should I provide a police check from when I lived in Canada?i have searched on the forum and it seems one of those things that sometimes they ask for and sometimes they don't...
Just wondering because they sent me the link for the australian police check, but nothing about a canadian one?
I'm really hoping I don't have to send one as that would just mean more of a delay...

Thanks!

i would imagine if they only referenced australia, then you need to get it from australia. generally, if they request canadian records, you will know. for the most part, from what i know, cic conducts their own background checks for canada, so it's not always necessary. you can always send a case specific inquiry and ask them to clarify if they also want canadian records.

Hello,

My questions are from some one who had their case rejected and now the case is being processing either in Pakistan or Ottawa:

My case was rejected initially from Islamabad. I have recently win the appeal and I was told the case will be going to Ottawa and they decide to process in Ottawa or Islamabad.
1- How often does the case goes back to Islamabad in this scenario?
2- How long for rest of the processing?
3- I was told they take 3 -4 months to only to do police clearance - is that true?

any one who can share their experience

Thanks

There doesn't seem to be too many visas issued in August/September for Ottawa applications. I was looking at the spreadsheet and I don't see too much action in the last 6 weeks, so I'm hopeful that there's a bunch coming! At least this is what I'm telling myself today :)

I've never read about any cases moving back to Islamabad. Successful appeal files are usually handled by CPC-O.

hhassa said:

It seems common for such cases to be reviewed and completed in under a year.

Security checks are the difficult thing here: CIC doesn't get your police clearance, so I don't know why anyone would claim it has to do with time to get police clearance. CIC requests CSIS obtain your security checks.

Security checks make sure you are not associated with genocide, war crimes, organized crime, terrorism, etc. These don't usually show up on police reports.

Unfortunately, nobody can provide you with a precise estimate like that. Successful appeals cases restart the processing time clock (as per the CIC manuals) and they are uncommon enough that there's not a lot of guidance here. While I have heard of cases that have been done in 6 months, I've not heard of anyone being successful in less than 6 months.

hhassa said:

When you said "CIC gets your police certificate" I read this as "CIC will obtain the police certificate for you". They do actually do this for your Canadian police clearance (since RCMP will comply with a request from CIC) but the applicant must obtain the police certificate for all other countries and then submit that to CIC - in which case the applicant gets the police certificate. That's why the directions state that you must obtain a police letter from every country in which you have lived for 6+ months since the age of 18 except Canada.

But police certificates have nothing to do with security checks.
