Hi y'all,

I am a March applicant and i am sponsoring my husband who is a green card holder. Our application is on process since July 18th. We received an email the same day (July 18th) from CPC-OTTAWA stating that I (sponsor) should provide my NOA and T4 of 2013 and also a letter of employement.
we mailed all the required documents on August 13th, 2014. I would like to know how long will it take them to get back to us?
Also, did they put our application on hold while waiting for the required documents? or were they still working on it and waiting for the required documents so they can finish the process at once?

Please, if someone can help me understand how CPC-OTTAWA works after a document is required

Thanks

My wife is going to flagpole this coming weekend, can i accompany her while landing. I have valid US visa on my passport.

You don't need a US visa because you don't enter the US.
You tell the US officer that you want to flagpole, they give you a piece of paper that you withdraw your application to enter the US and an officer will bring you back to the Canadian border where you can land

how quickly they continue processing is dependant on the officer handling your file. some will wait until the "bring forward date" that is listed on the request letter (the specific date you needed to get the information in by), and some continue processing as soon as the information is received. no one can tell you how long it will take for your application. more likely than not, yes, your application was put on hold until they received the requested information, as it is needed for them to make a determination on your file.

My eagle has LANDED! They were very friendly and relaxed at the border (Peace Bridge). They made jokes, recommended citizenship ASAP, and the officer told my husband "Canada expects great things from you!". Luckily, we beat a big crowd of people landing after us. The importation of goods was easier than I had anticipated.

Thanks to everyone for all your help on here! I would have driven myself (even more) insane without this forum. Much love!

Your file will be on hold until all requested documents are received to allow them make a decision on your case. An example is my case where same documents have been requested a few times although they were submitted (they confirmed 'finding' them).

Haha, I know what you mean dozel. I almost won't know what to do with myself once it's done! Check the forums, check email, check the processing times, I have a whole routine that'll be disrupted! :P

I still don't know what to do with myself, so I'm still sticking around for a while, lol.

You're welcome. Where is she planning to flagpole? My husband and I drove from Edmonton to Coutts on Saturday so he could flagpole :)

We are thinking to go to Carway. Any specific reason why you chose to go to Coutts?

We chose Coutts because it's open 24/7 and we weren't exactly sure how long it would take for us to get there. We did it all in one day, so we didn't want to show up and have it closed.

It's official! Everything was done and finally sent in, tracking number said package was received August 25th! :) Now the waiting game.
When you sent in the paperwork how long did it take before you received any indication that your file was in process? I'm assuming they email you?

it's currently taking 2 months for sponsor approval. CIC is randomly sending out acknowledgement of receipts (AORs), so right now there is no guarantee you will get one, and it's possible the first time you hear from them is when they approve the sponsor. if an email was provided, generally the sponsor will receive notification by email.

i suggest finding the august applicant thread to get a good idea of when august applicants start receiving approvals.

I did find that thread and post there. Thank you for the insight!

hey folks!

since zarilenth is off enjoying the company of her newly landed hubby, she has graciously opened up the editing rights to the ottawa spreadsheet so everyone can add their own information to keep it updated.

apparently in the past there were issues with people deleting information, so that is why editing was restricted. kindly be respectful and don't erase/change other people's info on the spreadsheet or restrict the editing rights without the group's consent. this is designed to help EVERYONE understand what the trends are for the ottawa visa office, and it will certainly be disappointing if we all can't work together to keep it up to date.

once you enter your timeline info, remember to color your row based on where you are in the process. i have also saved a copy to my personal google drive in case we run into issues in the future, so hopefully the info will not be lost.

here's the link for anyone who wants to update their info!

Hello,

Can you please let me know why the PPR was waived?

no one knows why ottawa waives ppr. my guess? because all they need is a copy of the passport, and if it is unlikely the applicant will change their name (ie: a man), already has changed their name (ie: woman already has married name in passport), and their passport is valid for over 6 months, then it isn't necessary to get a new copy.
