So I dug a bit more and found the following in the GMCS notes:

"Recommendation: REVIEW REQUIRED. Documentation on file shows cohabitation period of August 2014 to April 2015"

Good to know the person who initially looked at our file was inept. We had a clearly notarized letter stating we lived at a different residence (my parents) between May and July 2014. Now we're paying the price of a much longer wait simply because someone doesn't know how to read. *sigh*

Does anyone here have any experience with how long a review takes? The only other posting I could find was CharisseyB's who has apparently been in review since October, which means I'm probably looking at another 3 months MINIMUM for them to even get to ours.

I have a couple of questions for you guys:
does Ottawa send AOR2 (or anything similar) or is seeing this line under the Permanent Residence side the only sign that Ottawa has my file:
2. We started processing xxx's application on January 14, 2016.

since my meds were done upfront, will I receive any notification when they "receive" medicals? I am worried that since I had to get med's done a few months before mailing the application they might go older than a year before everything is done. could this be a problem? i am living in canada in a work visa during the whole time...

what would be the usual next update on ECAS?

Ottawa does not do an AOR2, so seeing that line is what you are going to see. Most people also see a line that says Medicals Received in ECAS; for some it's in there right away and for others it does take a bit of time.

CIC has the ability to extend medicals and for many people they will, but it's not an automatic thing. If it's getting tight and they decide they need new medicals, they will let you know. I needed to have mine re-done and overall it probably added a month total to the process.

FINALLY got my PR card today. Took 112 days total x_x But that's a wrap!! I have my PR card, health card, SIN, Ontario license/plates... I feel officially Canadian now Thanks so much for all of your support along the way!!

Unsurprisingly the request our MP put in just came back with a standard response "check the website for processing times", aka we're sort of out of luck until the 17th month is reached, even though a lot of US applicants have been approved after us (Late may/June/July/August). Very disheartening, especially since we really want to plan our wedding for Fall and there's no guarantee my fiancee will be allowed to re-enter Canada at that point if she isn't approved!

I'm wondering if common law takes longer. I'm not a common law, but I've seen other common law people have issues getting through or getting a COPR in a reasonable time.

I'm convinced by anecdotal evidence that common-law does indeed tend take longer. At least, it seems that the applications that take under 6 months are all married apps. It makes sense, since the officer must verify the 1 year living together requirement.

Great! Congratulations! Thanks for letting us know. I am still waiting for mine, I keep seeing that the CIC webpage indicates that is taking longer and longer (number of days) to issue one, but I am now hopeful that I will be getting mine soon.

I spoke with my MP last night about different things. I was advised that the change to the website, where they're grouping everything together by category instead of giving us the individual VO's is because they intend to start putting all applications of one kind through singular VO's. So if you apply for a family sponsorship the application will go to one VO, for work permit it'll be another. So they won't be doing the applications by where we're from/located any more.
