I have idea actually. I've seen other users refer to him as a "him." That's how I made my decision.:D

I first read this as "different unicorns" and then did a double-take. I think I need a nap.

A question...
We've applied outland, and he's living in the US. If our process isn't done by when we were hoping, would he be able to visit and wait until he's approved, then us crossover so he can land?

That's my family's plan if we don't get the COPRs by the end of July - and I can't believe how close that is! Others have done it, and I haven't heard of any Americans who've been denied entry when doing this, but I guess that's theoretically possible.

I am also "visiting" permanently at the end of July. I have made 22 trips over the border with a trunk full of essentials so far and my last trip will be July 30th. I haven't had a single problem with the border *knock on wood*. When I crossed Wednesday evening the guy asked me who I was going to see and how long I would be there. I told him my spouse and I'm leaving to go back to USA on July 1. THe only thing he asked me was I bringing anything that was staying permanently (of course I had to say no). He told me to have a good day and enjoy my visit. So from my end I have had no problems yet. It might be different when I come in July and don't go back to visit the states until December and then try to cross back over. I guess time will tell. I just hope this strike mess gets straightened out ASAP!!!!

Since we've applied I've crossed back and forth between Canada and US three times for a few months at a time. The first time was in Vancouver and no problem. The officer was nice and just said to be careful how many times I go back and forth. The second time in Toronto I was brought to the side for questioning and they called my husband and everything. They eventually stamped my passport and indicated the date for 6 months from then. The most recent time was also Toronto (Mid-May, but through Porter Airlines) and they did question me a bit, but I had all my papers in order (as I always do when I cross) and showed my PPR request, return flight to the States, emails with my Immigration Officer, etc. She asked a few questions and the last thing she said is "You're not planning to stay her and wait for this, are you?". I said no since I am returning to the States in August and she stamped me with no problem. Just make sure you have all of your ducks in a row if he plans to stay for an extended amount of time. The amount of days you put always seems to raise questions...understandably. As long as he does have some sort of return flight booked he should have no problem. :)

I should also point out if I don't receive COPR by the time I booked my flight back to the States, I will end up staying this time in the US and going back to work. Single income is a killer. I am really crossing my fingers for COPR before then though. Every time I cross the border it's a mental preparation since I am always fearing that I might be turned away. My nerves are shot. Haha

I wouldn't be surprised if we had the same VO - I'm sorry you're in a similar spot!
Btw, if you are keeping track of the spreadsheet you are welcome to add us to it.

Sure, I've created an entry for you (it's the last one for now - I'll re-sort the sheet later), just post your timeline and I'll fill in the rest of the blanks.

Omg omg omg!

Dear Xxxxxxxxxxx:

This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada as a member of the family class. We have now completed the initial assessment of your application, and expect to finalize your application without a personal interview. While an interview does not appear necessary at this time, we reserve the right to call you to an interview, should this become necessary at some future stage in processing.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BEFORE PROCEEDING FURTHER. YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE FINALIZED BY THE CASE PROCESSING PILOT – OTTAWA (“CPP-O”).

In order to continue processing your application, the following is required:

Ø COPY OR SCANNED IMAGE of your passport and passports of your accompanying family members, as noted below.

Please note:
All documents must be accompanied by English or French translations. When original documents are requested, notarised documents are not acceptable.

Passport Copies:
You are a citizen of a country that is exempted from obtaining a visa to visit Canada under Regulation 190 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations. You are therefore required to send only a copy or scanned image of the photo page of your passport and of any pages indicating a validity extension or change to your personal information. You must submit these copies/scans for yourself and for all your accompanying family member(s).
DO NOT SEND YOUR ORIGINAL PASSPORT(S). We require copies of a VALID passport for yourself and every accompanying family member. Please note that permanent resident visas cannot be issued on Diplomatic, Official or Military passports.

Changes to your Family Composition:
· Have you married or divorced?
· Have you given birth or adopted a child?
· Do you intend to get married or divorced prior to becoming a permanent resident?
· Do you intend to give birth or adopt a child prior to becoming a permanent resident?
· Has your sponsor withdrawn his or her sponsorship of your application?

My question is, why would they be asking the last part when he IS married? And we submitted all of those things?

That's just a boiler-plate reminder that you have to update them about any changes. They just want the passport scan if there haven't been any changes. Congratulations!

Good to see Ottawa still has at least one VO at work...

Grats, Brightredscream!!! My husband emailed CIC yesterday, and I just received an email that says we were approved on June 13th and that our COPR has been placed into processing, yeah!
