Conjugal Partner or Get Married

Hi, I am a Canadian citizen and currently 10 weeks pregnant, I am planning to sponsor my boyfriend so I could be with me and our baby. We've been dating for more than a year. Last year, december 2013, I went back to our country to visit him and got pregnant. So my question now is should I sponsor him as my conjugal partner so he can be with me before I give birth or should I give first, go back to our country, get married and sponsor him? I am still studying and really need his support before and after I give birth

If you can get married, you won't qualify as conjugal. Not a chance. So, therefore, get married and then sponsor him.

Congratulations!

The only way for you to sponsor him now, is to get married.

You can use an Inland application or an Outland application. Either one will allow him to be in Canada, but neither one will allow him to work in Canada for at least 8 months after you apply (based on current processing times).

You could sponsor him as soon as you are married (with an Outland application) and he can continue to work in his country, while visiting you as often as he can. Processing times for an Outland application vary depending on his country of citizenship.

Where is he from?

You said you were dating him and got pregnant. Dating does not mean to be in conjugal relationship. Look at www.cic.gc.ca what you need to prove to be considered a conjugal couple.

Anyways, conjugal or married he will not be able to get into Canada for long if he is from visa-exempt country, or at all if he needs entry visa, till you sponsor him and he gets his PR.

Easier to understand: Conjugal equals marriage-like. So as Regina says, "dating" is not marriage-like. Kid or no kid involved, no difference.

They won't qualify for conjugal any way , she can visit him .Conjugal only applies if neither couple can not be common law due to the laws of the country .She has visited him .So its either marriage or he comes here or she goes and lives with him for a 12 month period .

Yeah we were just trying to also get her to understand that dating someone doesn't make them conjugal (marriage-like), aside from the fact that they won't even qualify as conjugal partners

If u want a speedy processing time, the best thing to do is get married. They give the conjugal relationship thing a really hard time.
