Hi guys

I submitted my outland spousal application in October 2016.

I live in Canada and have not exited Canada for the last 12 years.

I got an email today (Jan 17th 2017) in my Hotmail inbox saying that I need to go for an interview in Ankara.

The email was sent from the following email address: ANKRAIMMIGRATION@international.gc.ca

The date of this is interview is February 14th....which is less than a month away

I currently live in Canada and need to apply for a re-entry visa, to be able to come back.
The processing time is 47 days which means I will miss the interview.

The email says:
"Please confirm within 5 days via e-mail if you can attend the interview or not. Please note that if you fail to appear for this interview the examination of your application will be completed based on the material available in your application. This could result in the refusal of your application."

Furthermore, when I log into MYCIC account under application details it says "we need to schedule an interview with the applicant"

However, there is nothing in MYCIC account that shows details of the interview.

I dont know if the email is real or fake?

And I dont know know if I can get a re-entry visa in time to make it to the interview. What will happen if I miss the interview?

Any guidance would be highly appreciated

Thanks in advance

Seems legit. When you apply outland, the interviews tend to happen at the VO in charge of your country of origin... MyCIC just confirms that it's likely legit. So, I'd say you should either reschedule or book a ticket...

Hmm, why did you apply outland if you can't leave Canada?

Either reschedule, go to the interview and wait out the re-entry visa in another country, or if you really can't leave, you could always withdraw and apply inland.

How have you "lived" in Canada the past 12 years? Were you in legal status all this time?

Due to this very long time already in Canada, chance of refusal for new TRV is high. You may need to attend the interview, and then wait outside Canada until your PR is approved.

If you simply miss the interview, your PR app will most likely be considered abandoned and cancelled, and you'll need to start over from scratch.

You should also immediately order your case notes to see exactly why they are requesting the interview. They may have a serious concern about validity of your relationship.

wow. missed that thanks.
Have you been illegally in Canada for the last 12 years?

I have been living legally in Canada...first as a student, then on a work permit and now on a visitor visa.

I applied outland because before the rule change it was faster processing. I can leave Canada, but only if I have a visa to be able to re-enter.

How do I order case notes?

Is your Visitor Visa still valid?

Are you sure you can't just apply to become a permanent resident? or maybe even a citizen... seriously 12 years is a long time.

also it is easy to fake who sent an email, unless it is encrypted

No Kidding. Seriously, why are you on Visitor's visa after living in Canada for 12 years?

Fake an email and outlook miss it as fake, sure. But not MyCIC.

No the OP has to follow process. And in this case, they may have to wait it out in Turkey.@OP: is your passport still valid? If so, I think you should book your flight and contact CIC and notify them that you need to go home and would like expidited service on your TRV.

It's probably real, I received invitation by E-mail as well that sounded exactly like that.

Its a long story which I will tell you one day if I ever run into ...I will tell you over a cup of coffee :)

But the short answer is because Im being sponsored by my spouse and the visitor visa allows me to stay here with my spouse.
