Are you sure you can't just apply to become a permanent resident? or maybe even a citizen... seriously 12 years is a long time.



also it is easy to fake who sent an email, unless it is encrypted

I currently have an open application to become a permanent resident...hence the request for the interview

If you are in Canada (and have valid temporary status (eg: worker)), then you can request under the Privacy Act. There is no fee for this. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-personal.asp . Note the 'Note" on the page.

If you are not in Canada, or are, but do not have a valid temporary status, you need to make a request under the Access to Information Act. There is a $5 fee. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/ENGLISH/department/atip/requests-atip.asp . You need to pay the $5 fee here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/ENGLISH/information/fees/index.asp . Include receipt of this payment as an attachment when you submit the request.

In either case, you should supply the Consent Form listed on the page. The Sponsor fills out and signs Section C. The Principal Applicant fills out and signs Section A. The sponsor can then put the request into CIC as described in the links. You want to request the GCMS case notes (electronic notes generated by Immigration Officers). The Consent Form gets added as an attachment at the end.

In about 30 days, the notes should appear.

I have been living legally in Canada...first as a student, then on a work permit and now on a visitor visa.

When was your last change in status? i.e. when did you change from work permit to visitor, or your last extension on visitor status?

Is your current visitor status valid?

I was sent the request to interview, back in June. Unfortunately I was not able to leave the USA because of residency issues so My wife went to MP to request interview to be transferred to USA VO. Los Angeles. I highly suggest you to contact your MP to do the same if you think you will risk not being able to come back after Interview... DO NOT WITHDRAW AND RE-APPLY. There is no need, talk to your MP or send an email directly to Ankara to have them to send your app to closest VO and explain your situation. I did that as well, and they replied back then faster than the MP. HOWEVER I would suggest making you MP aware for a bit more leverage for them to respond one way or another. As I stated before we did that as well. Los Angeles has our app and now waiting. It will kick you back a few months probably but better than risking not coming back or having to re-apply i would assume.

If you are a resident of Canada (some form of permit and not out of status), you can make a Privacy Act request. This is free.

If not, you have to make the request under the Access to Information Act. This costs $5 and a Canadian resident or citizen has to make the request (the sponsor?).

The result is the same.

said "the interview cannot take place in Canada. Please advise whether you can attend or not"

I dont know what else to do

Going there without a re-entry visa is not an option. I would have no place to live.

As far as I can see your only possible options are:
1. Skip interview. Your PR app will be rejected, and you can apply again using an INLAND app instead.
2. Go to interview. If you can get a new TRV, then come back to Canada after interview
3. Go to interview. If you can't get a TRV, then you'll need to wait outside Canada until your PR is approved.
