Hi guys, happy to let you know,Yesterday I got visa same day after interview.
Although I was a bit scared for interview,interviewer was so kind and sweet, just asked about my sponsor almost 30mins then she said that they believed our marriage is genuined and pick up PP between 3 and 4pm sameday. .
They gave me PP with visa and landing document by envelope with canadian stamp.
On my way back ,I smiled to everyone and felt walking on the air. ;D

In our case the online status changed into

A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision.

on Oct 29th, but until now i never heard of anything yet~~~no pp back either~~~

What date your status change to "decision made"?
You might wait about 10days at least to receive your visa from that day because they use GOV post service usually and which is always take a bit long time !
I believed you will receive your visa very soon indeed 8) 8) 8) 100% sureeeeeeeeeeee!

The status changed on the 29th, Oct.It has been 15 days now~~,we planned to go to Canada together on the 25th Nov. Not sure if we could make that happen now~~

No, I meaned at least 10 working days!(depend on how far place you lived from Beijing)
Ok,we think together as follow;
your status changed on 29/10/11(actually it was saturaday)
So,they will finish paper work on your PP on 31/10/11(Monday)
Than,they will send it to post office on 1/11/11(Tuesday)
from 1/11/11 to tomorrow is 9 working days(if we defined 11/11/11 as holiday,if no 10days ,donno well cause I'm not Chinese Citizen).
I know how you feeling but ...............it is coming .........I think your nightmare will end this week by receiving a package 8)and I need to add a note in my diary to say congrats to someone in forum . ;D

Why does Beijing ask for the passport so soon? Why not wait (as Hong Kong did in my wife's case) until a decision has been made before asking for the passport?

Holding on to a passport can be very inconvenient for the applicant.

It is not only in Beijing. In India the CHC holds passport for 4 months or more.
They just dont want you to apply for a TRV (Temporary Visa) meanwhile

Sponsor Approval and forwarded to Beijing Office: November 14, 2011

Now waiting for the 2nd stage to approve.

My advice is don't buy a plane ticket until you have the passport in hand. My wife's passport arrived later than the embassy promised. of course we were dealing with Hong Kong, slowest embassy in the world.
