Hi Guys,

Just wanted to know few things. We are expecting a baby at the end of September and since she is born here she will be a Canadian citizen. We both are on work permit here in Canada,so do we receive any monthly childhood benefit here .

yes, you do: Here is the link to the child benefit that you are entitle to get for your kid/kids until they turn 6: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/bnfts/uccb-puge/pplctn-eng.html
You can apply for this one once you have 18 months in Canada, and will give you 100 cad monthly starting the date you came in Canada.

The second one is National Child Benefit, http://humanservices.alberta.ca/financial-support/2074.html and depends on your family income.

Thank you so much.We still will have to wait as we are here now for last 9 months.

yes you are entitled but only till the validity of your work permit...im on work permit before 2kids...but last mo th im a permanent resident so i dont have to worry :-) renewing work permits!

yes you are eligible , but under one condition if you are in canada for more than 18 months.

Question - You mentioned the eligibility which is clear to me. But my question is that after 18 months, whether we will get the benefit amount starting the date we came to Canada OR after 18 months? I called Child Care Benefit and they said that it will most probably be after 18 months. Can you please point to an area in their website where its written that we will receive from Day 1? This would really be helpful. Thanks!!

I think you will get it after 18 months(i mean to say you already crossed that time on aftre your work permit is issued then you will get as soon as you apply)

You can apply after 18 month and you are eligible only from the 18 th month. Not from the day when you came to Canada. But for GST credit, and Ontario Trillium Benefit (if you live in Ontario, I do not know about other provinces)...you are eligible for the first day, when you entered in Canada, if you had visa. (any visa)

hi my friend is on work visa he has applied for his wife and kids to come on his work visa he has 2 kids will he get cctb after his wife comes

He will qualify once his children arrive if he has lived in Canada for 18 months.

Hi my Accountant says they will get Cctb right awway since they have dependent visa
Anyone who has more info
