Don't lose hope.
That article sounds great!

In addition, someones MP from the other forum told her that CHC is going to finish up the backlog cases from 2008 and 2009 by December-January. So exciting! We will be with our spouses very soon InshAllah :)

Hi Guys,

Is anyone has any idea how long it is taking now for processing of spousal immigration for wife. The latest timeline updated on CIC is 16 months for 80% of cases processed during last 12 months. Husband cases normally takes longer than wives caes and the processing time mentioned on CIC covers both so I guess it should be 9-12 months for wives.

Based on the average from 2009 applicants, Female cases are about 12-15 months and Male cases are about 15-20 and may be even more. so they averaged it out to 16 months in general, but no one know the exact time because it varies case to case.

I have gone thru some interpretions available in online editions of newspaper regarding the 2011 plan where they have mentioned that 2011 will admit more spouses and children which can only be acheived by faster processing. I pray they are honest what they have mentioned.

My cousin just received a letter asking for updated forms, IMM0008 and background declaration form, with remedical and updated PCC request. He is a january 2010 AOR. Seems like they are sending all applicants from 2010 to re submit the forms for updated family information aswell as recent activities within the last year :( ...soooo frustrating....

I sponsored my husband in January 2010 from Quebec, Canada. I got a reply from CIC January 27 2010 that they are in receipt of my application.
CIC started processing my file March 15, 2010
Islamabad started processing our file April 27, 2010 (letter said they will contact us within 9 months)
Supplementary forms were completed and sent to Islamabad May 1 2010
I emailed Islamabad for a status update and they replied " your file is currently in the queue for the intial review " each time I enquired I got this generic message which broke my heart. I am so upset I have not seen my husband since December 27 2010, it is so painful especially that we could not be together for our first wedding anniversary October 29, 2010.
Immigration should understand how difficult this process it for couples to live apart for such a long time.
Quebec Immigration even sent me an approval in April 2010, I sent the Quebec Selection Certificate to my husband and a copy to Islamabad but nothing seems to work.
By the way, my brother got married 2 weeks after me and has also sponsored his wife from Lahore 1 month after me.
Husbands or Wives, immigration processing times should be equal and fair. Canada always speaks out on equalism then why differences in this????
Is there any other way to speed this process up? Can our local MP help? Please advise ... thank you!

Its just the backlog they are trying to clear from 2009 atleast thats what people are getting for an update. I sponsored my wife in January, Islamabad started processing her file in March. As I said above that last time her file was opened in April and its been sitting in the storage area since then. Our 1st anniversary passed on Oct 10th without each other, however I visited my wife in the summer though. But I feel your pain sister...stay strong and things will be fine. Nothing will help faster the process it is what it is MPs can only give you the update nothing much...

Humtum, 9 to 16 months from CIC Canada's processing time or from Islamabads processing time?
I wish there was something, some option which can speed up the process because I am all alone here :-[
