Luggage allowance will depend on the airline you are travelling [its 2 bags of 23 Kg and 1 hand luggage of 7 Kg for almost all, including PIA].
The orientation session will come in handy if you don't know anyone in Canada who can guide with the paperwork etc[which doesn't apply to spouse cases] but you can go for a free brunch.

My wife moved in March 2014.... There are no luggage requirements from Customs just wutever the airline's requirement is.... which is 23 kg per luggage.... ur allowed max 2 pieces of luggage.... PIA used to have 28 kg but starting this year they have changed it to 23 kg

There was no mention of any orientation session in my wife's PPR... maybe CHC is running out of things to do since London processes all the applications now....lol.... maybe they should focus on clearing up the backlogs rather than organizing orientation sessions which I doubt r of any benefit to anyone

THis is a question for anyone who's spouses have landed recently.... With this new 2 year waiting period requirement before PR card is issued.... is there another travel document or something that they issue for this 2 year period?.... does this mean that u can't travel outside Canada over this 2 year period??

They don't issue a pr card for ppl with condition 51?? Like at all? Nothing even temporary? So how can they travel back n forth if there is an emergency or a vacation with spouse?

So if the spouse have to travel outside canada during this two yr period, are they not able to

alright, just wanted to ensure... also, step two of passport is only sending passport, return address slip and two passport photos correct? should i use TCS or Jerry's... also are they really returning passports within a week's time or are they still taking more than few months as they used to for some.... for me it won't really matter as if its back in a week's time good if it takes 3-4 months still good coz my wife's brother's marriage is in FEB... we are due to send in our passport in first week of nov (30 day wait period requested - are people actually even following this request)...

Yes they are returning in a week time. my wife got her passport in 4 days after Islamabad reeived the passport. She sent it through TCS. CIC asked us to send passport after 2 weeks so we followed that. I think its better to follow their instructions. Good luck!
