You'll have to check canadian law on mailing passports. Most countries discourage this but I'm not sure about how canada does it.

You can never send your passport overseas to another country. From what Kasam_se said, they requested a copy of passport and then your local embassy [Islamabad for Pakistan] will ask for the original passport so they can stamp the visa.

In short your husband will need to go back in any case once his passport is requested.

Not entirely true. In the letter I received, London mentions that if you're in another country then they should be informed to do the similar process in another country and London should be contacted immediately in that case. Since it doesn't apply to me, I didn't really pay much attention to it but I believe her husband might not have to go back.

Its very risky to mail it, best is to have someone take it and bring it back ( I did this for my folks ) and then he can flagpole

Interview was requested by London but carried out in Islamabad.
Passport copy goes to London coz Pakistani law prohibits sending passport overseas via mail. After they check copy of pp in London they issue visa and send it to Islamabad and they request original pp by mail and send back with visa on it. Its a two stage process.

Im so confused now! Last week London confirmed that my file is in their hands and today i received this mail



Dear Sir/ Madam,

This is in response to your enquiry.

Based on the information you provided, your application is not in process at our office in London, UK.

Please contact the visa office where your application was sent with any proof of receipt you may have received regarding this application. We regret that we cannot assist applicants with an application in process at a different visa office. Please contact the Islamabad visa office via islamabad-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca.

So from my experience, when I received the confirmation of sponsor's eligibility back in March 2012 which also stated that the file will now be transferred to the respective visa office (islamabad), couple of months after that I wrote to CHC Islamabad to find out the progress (I was so naive then), and they told me the file is not in Islamabad yet. When I actually ordered notes couple of months back from now, I found out the file was collecting dust in Ottawa till late first quarter of 2013 when it finally reached islamabad. Two things I could conclude :

1) When they say your file has been transferred to Islamabad/London they actually mean "We have decided to move your file to Islamabad/London"

OR

2) Even though the file is transferred to Islamabad/London, the authorities won't admit having it until somebody from the respective office Islamabad/London touches the file for the very first time and the process gets initialized.

By the way I found last week as well that my file has landed in London in the last week of Feb 2014. Sigh! I would probably cut down on visiting this website for a couple of months at least.

Alhamdolillah my wife received ppr today from London office. We feel very lucky because ours was Nikka case and in interview que and still everything went without any major hiccups. I pray everyone gets to be with their loved ones very soon.

There r diff mailing laws for every country. u will hv to check . But yes, a passport can be mailed to another country.

keep searching ur passport and if u wont get it u have to follow long process of renew passport and then send copy of ur pp to CIC

Stage 1: copy of pp to London. (6 weeks)
Stage 2: mail pp to Islamabad.
