Wsalam,

Twinkle, this issue is you won't really understand the situation of what CHC/Ottawa is doing. The more you ask question the more they will confuse you. I tried to clarify about my file, but I felt that they just kept me circling around the same issue. Finally, I just said, visa will come when I comes InshAllah. They won't tell you the truth. We are treated like criminals and will have to eat our sentence.
yes u r right. they r treating us like shit....by the way u r living in montreal?

it shouldn't take them 2 weeks to print your bank statements.
talk to a manager there, advice them its urgent and you need them for immigration purposes.
I personally think that you should send in the proper statements and not the screenshots, just put some pressure on the bank. you are their client! ;D

keep us updated!

CIC immigration has made changes towards GMCS notes. It's all done online, in their database. Much easier than before and faster. Link is below.

Hello all,
My question is not directly correlated the actual sponsorship, but more in regards to pre-sponsorship stage. We are planning on getting married in karachi end of Dec. However, I am very confused in regards to the nikkah/rukhsati/valima. If we were to do nikkah (wedding) based on your experience is it mandatory for us to do rukhsati/valima at the same time or not. I need to know your suggestions cause we just want to do the wedding now, and wait till her papers to be completed to commence the rukhsati/valima.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

ak23,

Although it is not necessary to do the rukhsati and the nikah at the same time, based on experience from other posters on this forum and peoples timelines, the processing of you file does slow down after the initial review until the rukhsati is done. Have a look at sweetsr timeline that they posted at this link http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/chc-islamabad-spouse-sponsorship-timeline-2009-2010-t28775.70665.html

How do they expect a relationship to last for 28 months while spouses living miles apart :o ? Why would they be worried about the Ruksati when most of the Canadians live without a wedlock ... :-X

While I agree with the first part of your statement... 28 months being too long, I dont with the second. Canadian immigration is well aware of our culture and they know we cannot live together as a couple without having done a Rukhsati. So before they can issue you a PR visa, they want to make sure it is infact a legit and not a marriage of convenience.

Thanks for your reply. We have decided to do the full wedding and not make the whole process & our lives more complicated than they are. Wedding would be in Jan 2014. What do you recommend I start collecting from now onwards so I can submit the completed file by the end of Feb 2014.

Thank you again for all your responses.

Collect Gift Receipts specially the jewelry brought for the marriage , pictures taken together during outings/vacation, emails and greeting cards. I would suggest that you have a joint bank account to demonstrate common financial interests. Good luck

That's a really good decision! Mine was going to be a nikkah only as well but we decided on the whole wedding instead. One of my friends had nikkah only and after 8 months, she is still unable to see/log in to E-cas, meaning her file has no progress, while mine, I was able to see it right after 2 months in E-cas. Not saying that this is the norm, but I do hear that only Nikkah slows down the process.
