i got through to CIC hotline, and need to confirm a few things:

i have my client ID which consists of 8 digits, and there are 2 other numbers they supplied over the phone:
1 - F000123456
2 - B123456789

does anyone know what these 2 IDs are? i want to confirm. thanks.

I believe the first one is your application number...coz my application starts wid F too and is of same format.

Yeah Alhamdulillah thats a good news masha'Allah but it's just an initial step.. Now I think I have to wait for 8-10 months for any further update. Yeah my husband applied in October this year. What about you?

It should be 9 try using 4 0's for example f000012345

I just wanted to confirm one thing. I know its too early and my file is still in missisauga but there is no way we can see whats going on with it when its in sauga, once they approve it and transfer it to Islamabad or Ottawa then we get to know right?

no. MY Client ID is only 8 digits; this is the ID that I use to sign in with on CIC to check status of the application - there are no alpha characters in my client ID.

my WIFES client ID starts with F and has 9 digits afterwards ex. F123456789.

i want to know what this id starting with B and has 9 digits afterwards is for... ex. B123456789

FYI...

According to page on CIC website. Client ID and Immigration File Number is defined as:

Client ID Number

You will find this number on official documents issued to you from a Citizenship and Immigration Canada office, Case Processing Centre or visa office where you submitted your application. Your "Client ID Number" has four numbers, a dash (-), and four more numbers. (Example: 0000-0000).

Immigration File Number

You will find this number on any official document issued to you from the visa office where you submitted your application. Your "Immigration File Number" starts with the letter "F or B", and is followed by nine numbers. (Example: F/B000000000).

So what you are mentioning is Immigration File Number not the client ID.

have tried this with my spouse Immigration File Number ( as I am sponsoring her ) - And it states:

This service is only available to clients with applications in process. We may have received your application but not yet begun processing it. The following link may help you determine if your application is being processed:
Application Processing Times
At this time, you may use this on-line service to view the status of your application ONLY if you have:
sponsored a member of the family class;
applied for permanent residence from within or outside Canada;
applied for a permanent resident card (initial, replacement or renewal);
applied for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship);
applied for Canadian citizenship for a person adopted by a Canadian citizen (on or after January 1, 1947);
applied for a citizenship certificate (proof of Canadian citizenship);
applied to renounce Canadian citizenship; or
applied to resume Canadian citizenship.

The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) may help you to access the status of your application through CAS.

To me it seems like the sponsored person can not use his immigration and his/her own info to check the status... Only the sponsor can do it with his/her Client ID.

B is the applicants physical file ID number.

F is the applicants computer file ID number.

Client ID is the sponsors Computer file ID number.

Guys what does the new Conditional Permenant Status Law mean in terms of wait times for Spouse Sponsorship from Pakistan?

Does it mean the couple will be reunited faster? or no change?

Has anyone sponsored since the new law was passed?
