very well....quite smart canadians...!!!! i hope they dont want new borns of immigrants to be highly skilled n educated.... :P

Sure they do, why do you think they have increased the timelines for sponsoring parents and grandparents? Because they do not want them anymore. The elderly cannot go out and work, hence no taxes. They also have several age-related medical problems, which makes them a burden on the health-care system. Hence, increase the timelines so high that it becomes almost impossible to call them to Canada.

And for the same reason, they have decided which countries they want immigrants from.

Get well soon Alpha, take best care of urself.

I am really impressed by the fair criteria, planning and concern of CIC...but point is that a spouse visa should be given with less n minimum criteria..or they should mention and make it clear while issuing PR to singles that when you plan to get married you should at least pick up your spouse having "this level of education and skill"...otherwise....your spouse will be a burden on our economy..... >:(

Well honestly, they cannot interfere with one's personal life. They cannot outrightly say that 'you get married to a post-graduate and we will give you a visa'. That is not in their hands. But what they CAN do is control who they want in their country. And that is what they have been doing. The signs are all there...

Yep, it is. The population of Canada was quite low some 30-20 years ago, which was when the current immigration policy was devised. Have an influx of immigrants who help run the economy. But, in recent years, there has been a change in this ideology. Most canadians want the govt to focus on increasing the size of Canadian families rather than have any 'outsiders' who do not understand their language & who do not integrate into the mainstream society.

well i got a question here...if someone says he/she is educated and wana pursue highest level of education[i am referring to a spouse visa]..lets say a phd...will it be in favor of that person or will visa officer will doubt his intentions... so far as i have come to know is that visa officer always doubt the husband-wife relationship and one has to remain very smart and careful about everything...

If the applicant is more qualified than the sponsor, this is looked as a red flag by the visa officer. They definitely look at it closely to guage if the applicant got into the marriage to get the visa. But luckily, they look at the case in its entirety. If you have other proofs to support that your marriage is genuine, then being well qualified is a plus.

Also, to give CIC some credit, they do not focus unduly on the educational qualifications on the forms. They do their best to keep it fair, but, at times, they do have to give in to the economic situation.
