Hello everyone,

I just sent me spouse application to CPC-Mississauga. I have several questions and need some feedback from expert fellows!

Since I live in Canada and my spouse in Pakistan, I sent complete document package to CPC-M, I just followed their guide instructions. My questions are????
??? I did not mentioned CHC-London for case processing, I picked up Islamabad. Is this correct or not ??
??? It was complete application including Sponsorship application, agreement questioner, police clearance, Medical and application of permanent residence. Is that OK or I have to send some of paperwork to Islamabad???
??? I am unemployed and dont have job. How it will effect my application???
??? I have not spent enough time in Canada and my PR card is expiring next year. Any bad impact on application??
??? What will happen next, I mean They will send me a letter of acceptance or to my spouse in Pakistan???
??? I saw their processing time is 38-days. Does that mean they will approve the application and than send it to Pakistan for further processing?? How long they will take in Islamabad????

Islamabad current processing time is 14-18 months after they received application from Mississauga office. Job is not necessary for spouse based application, but it is nice to have one.

Saisn Welcome on the forum and thanks for joining us. I hope I can answer to all of your questions one by one.

>>Sound like you have the complete applications forms. Please tell us If you have attached (1)Original Nikah Nama (2) Your spouse Birth Certificate (3) Wife Background declaration form for Pakistan (4)Your spouse Passport photocopy & National ID card copy (5)Wedding pictures (6)8 passport size pictures for your spouse (7) Application Paid fees receipt (8 ) Option C form [Tax form] .....These items are part of the application which you must attach at first point and any other supporting papers you can submit later on.
>>Unemployment does not have any impact on your application approval decision unless someone is not on Govt social assistance allowance. I advice you when you do have a job in future than obtain a employment letter and send it to ISLAMABAD OFFICE as it will support your case.
>>As a PR holder by not spending enough time in Canada does not have any impact on your sponsorship file. But I strongly advice you that when it is going to be expire next year please be in Canada at that time and renew it, If you will be staying outside and your PR is expired they won't let you to come back in Canada unless you have spent 2yrs [720 days]time in Canada out of 5 yrs, and same role will apply when you will renew your PR card they may can make an issue so strong advice is please complete 2yrs before renew your card next yr or don't stay in Canada and don't renew it till you have 720 days.
>>Once your application approved by Mississauga office it will be transfer to ISLAMABAD and the will issue a "Letter of Acknowledgement" to your wife.
>>Around 38 days are required at Mississauga office to approve your file than after you will receive an approval latter from them which will have File NO. On it and you can check the file status anytime on the www.cic.gc.ca website. From this point ISLAMABAD office will start final processing. After your spouse receives the Letter of Acknowledgement from Embassy it will take at least [minimum in these days] 9 months to complete the file.
>>Once your wife receive AOR letter, Islamabad embassy contact & address will be written on the letter which you/your spouse can use to send any additional documents you may wish to provide them.

Application Approved----------- 02 Dec 2009
CHC-Islamabad sent AOR with Processing Date--- 17th Dec 2009
Since then waiting for anymore letter from embassy,
Total time passed 11 months
waiting......... ???

I have sent all documents except wedding pictures, phone bill, emails and Chat logs! I dont know how they will react to this but My fault is I just followed the document check lists so I sent them whatever they asked original Nikkahnama, ID card, Birth Certificate etc along with forms. I worked here for 6 months so have some tax documents. I specially came from pakistan to file this application, I dint know that I could do it over there in Pakistan too.

Not if you are Permanent resident. Only Canadian Citizens can apply for their spouse while living abroad. You must stay in Canada for the whole application process specially if you are still Permanent Resident.

My Wife Received AOR on 2-Jan 2010, Processing Started at CHC-Isb. 28th Decmber 2009, Still waiting..

Peacekeeper wife may be already arrived in Canada,as i believe they have received PPR in August and received back PP with VISA in Sep.Since after didnt hear anything from Peacekeeper.

Honestly i do not think they would make an arranged marriage with first cousin that much of an issue. forced marriages, child brides and polygamy..yea ..but first cousin no..everybodys married to their first cousin in pakistan loll..
anways i have exact same timeline as waiting4u and i do not fall under any of the above categories, still i havent heard anything from them either.

Minister Kenney hosts Vancouver town hall on marriages of convenience
Ottawa, October 14, 2010 — A town hall meeting on the issue of marriage fraud, also known as “marriages of convenience,” is being held tonight in Vancouver, Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney announced today.

This is the second in a series of cross-country town hall meetings the Minister is hosting on this issue.

“I want to hear people’s views and experiences related to marriages of convenience and their opinions and ideas on how best to address them,” said Minister Kenney. “I believe that we can sometimes get the best ideas from the grass-roots. That’s why we’re doing these consultations.”

Another town hall meeting on this issue is planned for Montreal later this month.

To complement the town hall meetings, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) recently launched online consultations on marriage fraud. The national online questionnaire is available on CIC’s website at cic.sondages-surveys.ca/s/marriage-fraud/langen and is open until November 3 for public input.

Minister Kenney raised immigration fraud issues during his recent visit to China, India and the Philippines, the top three sources of immigrants to Canada. There, he discussed opportunities for collaboration in combating immigration fraud, including the use of marriages of convenience to circumvent Canada’s immigration laws. Canada is also working closely with India to put a stop to the operations of fraudsters in the Punjab region.

Information collected through the town hall meetings and online consultations will help inform future actions taken by the Government of Canada to address marriage fraud.
