Khan, if you can come up with a valid point why our timeline should be reduced back to 9 months like it was in 2009 and earlier, then do let me know because I am curious to know as well. There is a reason why it went from being 9 months in 2009 to 24 months currently within 2 yrs.

You are about to be bothered by them soon once you get your Visa. I thought you might have see a glimpse of it already.. as they put your case in interview queue now for no logical reason

u commented in previous posts...tht whn cic request for ppr thn u guys make sure to send passport of validity of months ...wht does this mean...and whose copy of passport should we send both sponser n applicant or jus the applicant passport lill confuse .

Well background checks are conducted on an individual not on passport, passport is checked whether it is fake or original, so it doesn't matter if u have it renewed after your BG checks. My passport expires in April 11 and I am planning on renewing it in Nov this year.

My passport is also expiring in May and I intend renewing it on Nov too. The only problem is, I never got my ID or Passport name changed after Nikkah- and I applied with the same too (my fathers name as my sirname). Now that I'll be getting it changed, you guys think I should get the ID and Passport changed to my husbands name? As then the passport number will change too- or should I just get it renewed abhi and then get it changed later when Im in canada? Please advise.

Keep your father's name as your last name until you get your visa, just renew your passport with the current name and change it in Canada.

If u apply for an ID from Canada, it will not be CNIC they will make NICOP for you, then once you have new NICOP then you can apply for passport.
Roughly it takes 4 to 6 weeks to get a NICOP then I forgot about the passport i will have to aks my wifey.

Ayesha,

As best place said, its recommended not to change your name because CHC may ask you to provide police certificate with new name and then also refill forms and application with that as well. The worst they can do is they can initiate new background checks on your new name.

Changing it from Canada is also a long process and then once your PR is made with your old surname, even if you visit pakistan some time and get a new passport with new name, Pakistani authorities will give you hard time in proving your identity on your return.


Just renew your passport, get into Canada and then find another way of doing it. May be initiate the process from Canada, get NICOP, apply for passport and then change the name on your PR card based on that information.

That means, when you recieve passport submission request, (its for the applicant), then the passport should be valid for atleast 1 year from the date of your medical.

You do not need to send the photocopy of any one's passport unless they specifically ask for it and normally they ask the photocopy of sponsor's passport to verify entry/exit and duration of stays.
