PIA is good......but seriously speaking, it is only good because we want to call it good. Staff is not courteous and lately they have been getting bad publicity due to worms in their food and rats on plane....... at least snakes on plane would not bite the planes wires...... ;D

Has anybody who recently received their PPR + REMED got their passport back with the visa? Has anyone got it in under 4 weeks ?

I don't know if you have comprehension problems or if you are just an attention seeker?

Why do you keep quoting Wes786 and then write your typical illogical response in return? Did you fall on your head when you were a kid? Where did Wes786 say that Pakistan doesn't have talent? All he said was about the reputation of Pakistan which is laughable at the international level and its true. The comment wasn't about the talent of Pakistan but the reputation of Pakistan. I will tell you what Indians have and what Pakistanis are missing. Indians have unity and we don't. Don't you see whats going on in Pakistan right now? They are killing eachother on the basis of ethnicity. how humane and logical is that? What is there to promote to others about Pakistan right now? Terrorism? Cold murders? Corruption? Hypocrite leaders?

Which values are you talking about? Values of unity? Peace? brotherhood? Honesty? ... Wake up and face the reality before its too late. This is the real problem with us Pakistanis. We don't accept the problems that we have; instead we keep on ignoring our issues while we sing the patriortic song at the top of our lungs. The day us Pakistanis realize our problems and look to resolve them is the day we would take a baby step towards being a proud Pakistani.

Your application is currently in process and that there are certain issues that cannot be addressed or assessed without an in-person interview. Unfortunately, at this point in time, it is not possible to give a timeframe for the interview.

If you have any updated documents such as photographs and other proof of the sponsor's visits since the wedding, proof of contact including telephone bills, emails and letters, proof of financial support and any other proof of an on-going relationship, you are welcome to submit these to us. Such documents would help us in assessing your application.

Documetns were received from applicant's end on 17 and 22 Aug 2011 and have been forwarded to applicant's file.

We thank you for your patience and for keeping your correspondence to a minimum.

Please note that we will be unable to reply to messages which do not include either the name AND date of birth of the primary applicant or the file number under which your application is being processed.

GUys, I have a question, I was todl that evnthough we have submitted the income tax return info for the year that u've applied, u need to submit the one for this year when ur spouse gets here...i dont no if this is true...dose n e 1 no anything?

DAMN itt!! This is all so frustratingly confusing!!

a) proof of cash: err.. wedding gift? saalami's converted into dollars.. what else can I say?
b) so hopefully I don't have to fill any declarations.
c) "you can make a list of items you did not bring with you and give it to them, so when you bring those items, you dont have to pay tax on it." plese tell me this doesn't mean that I have to bring them? ie: this applies to the stuff getting shipped to me from Pak once I land in CAN? cz menay tu baar baar ana jana nahi in ONE year.. kindly clarify.. thanks!!

a) No limit when you first land, just have proof of so much cash...(bank statement etc) if possible
b) The declaration form is for seasonal travelers or visitors or returning canadians. It asks you about tobacco and wine stuff, i dont rememebr exact details but it is basically to make sure you are not trying to avoid paying duties on items you should be paying duty on. In your case, I am sure even that doesn't apply.
c) You cant bring it all with you one shot, can you? If you can, then by all means go ahead. If you want to bring, furniture, computer, car, bed sheets, tv, bike, dishes, etc etc etc and you dont bring it when you first land, you can make a list of items you did not bring with you and give it to them, so when you bring those items, you dont have to pay tax on it....

If I may?? I havn;t gotten my name changed either
as of now, and on my File and even my NIC n new passport, I got my maiden name, n where it says father's name, i got them to mention my husband;s name and similarly, the address of my in-laws. that kept everything in-sync. taking up my husband's name as surname is something i'll do once i'm IN canada.. right now, maiden name along wid a mention of husband's is sufficient..

My passport is also expiring in May and I intend renewing it on Nov too. The only problem is, I never got my ID or Passport name changed after Nikkah- and I applied with the same too (my fathers name as my sirname). Now that I'll be getting it changed, you guys think I should get the ID and Passport changed to my husbands name? As then the passport number will change too- or should I just get it renewed abhi and then get it changed later when Im in canada? Please advise.

It's late now but this is what should have been done:

1) Have your old ID card with pre marriage name
2) After legalizing the Nikah Nama, Replace/Cancel/make new ID card with husband name. Provide copy of Nikah Nama to ID card team so that they can update your status from single to married and also a backup to support your husband name.
3) Once you have new ID card, make a passport with the new name
4) To CHC send pre marriage ID card copy, send birth certificate (indicating name on birth which is same as pre marriage name), send new ID card copy and passport copy and of course Nikah Nama.

I did the above and no single question from them to ask and infect may help them in conducting the background check properly. We supplied the PCC with the new name (Post wedding name) and it worked fine and got RE-PCC request with the same post wedding name.
I feel changing the name to your husband's is a further proof to them that an individual is married and has even change pre marriage legal name to a new name in complying the law.

Above can also be done upon arriving in Canada but it will be a tough task as every where (In PK/ In CAN) your premarriage name has been recorded.

You cannot compare Pakistan to India in any way! I don't know how many times I have said it before and don't know how many times I will have to post it in the future. Doesn't matter how many frauds are coming to Canada from India, it's just like any other country but look at their economy! How many Canadians have invested in India because they are so advanced in everything people from Canada I know personally are going to India to study medicals and other programs. Call centers for all Canadian and US companies are located in India an there are many other reasons to list why indian timeline is only 6 months. Pakistan is totally opposite of that, and has lost all it's reputation! I hope you get the point!

i know many companies are pulling their over seas operations back to Canada/US or going to Brazil. The point is Pakistanis do not lobby the way Indians do. For that matter, Muslims do not lobby the way indians do. They lobby for their cause and get what they want.

Other day I was having a conversation with a teenage friend who returned to Pakistan from U.K because of family pressure & emotional games and now after hardly a month he is cursing the decision he was so tensed and disappointed. He was like I can't believe this is the same heaven my roots are from & what have these people made of it A s.h.i.t.h.o.l.e.......... (Pardon ma lang but ts true)
