Even this is a good news in these hopeless days!
It shows they at least look at our files!!
I think its good, it is being updated weekly and not quarterly like before. I guess they have more resources around them now to make things more efficient.

Thanks for the reply. I got married after I submitted my application. My question is what happens after I add my wife to my application. Does CIC only see my application(as I'm primary applicant) and give PR first to me and then they will be processing my wife application as she currently in India?

OR

Until they finalize her application and my application they will not be providing PR for both

Also how early we have to report to CIC about marital status change? I'm waiting for police clearance certificate for my wife and thinking to submit all documents at once, is it better to submit without it and submit it later after I receive it

Hi,
Whether or not your wife will accompany you in Canada you are required to inform CIC about her existence. So if you got married after applying PR you need to update CIC about it and send them your updated family form. If you would like to add her to your file( which you should ideally do) you have to send them all relevant documents with your wife's details and pay her FEES and send all supporting documents for her including offcourse ur marriage certificate...
CIC will process ur PR together it may add some more weight time but since they hv not touched ur file for a while you won't suffer much. If she is in ur home country her visa will be processed at the home
Country. You can request for change of visa office for her. I know of a friend who didn't updated CIC about his marriage to avoid the delay in his PR and he is now struggling to bring his wife and kid here. So you may choose to not add her as applicant at this time... But kindly update CIC about ur marriage so that u may bring her later.

Hi guys, I have a quick question; if anybody could provide some insight - that'd be great.

I am an Aug 2014 applicant and received AOR, did upfront medicals and received correspondence requesting additional documentation in Aug 2015. I updated my marital status in Dec 2015. My spouse was already included in my application as my common-law spouse but we got married in December 2015 so the update was to that effect. I had already applied for our second BOWP's before we got married. So I updated CIC with my marital status and they acknowledged receipt of the update via email. (not automated - it was a valid response).

My question is: when I updated my marital status with CIC regarding my PR application, does the update take effect for my pending BOWP application?

Thank you

Hi Everyone

CIC asked for my RPRF.

I got my medical requested 4 weeks ago.

As per the website, CIC August 12, 2014, and started processing my application November 10, 2014.

After all this wait our applications are back on track, shortly all this stress and frustration will become history for all of us.

Thanks for the reply AJ. I called CIC recently and told them that I got married and asked what documents do I need to submit to CIC for my wife they sent me email to submit below documents:

•A new Generic Application Form for Canada (IMM 0008) with supporting documents,

For this document I see that first data is about principal applicant and in dependant section I have to enter spouse details. What are the supporting documents for IMM 0008? I don't see anything in Guide for this application

•(If applicable) A Schedule A - Background/Declaration (IMM 5669) form,

I already submitted IMM 5669 for me (primary applicant) when I sent the application, now should I need to just submit one for my spouse?

•(If applicable) An Additional Dependants/Declaration (IMM 0008DEP) form,

Should I fill this form with my spouse details because in the guide to fill this application form it says that on behalf of each of your dependants not included in the Generic Application Form for Canada(IMM 0008), I'm little confused when it said Not Included in IMM 0008.

in the Guide to fill this application form it says:

This form must be completed by:
•You, the principal applicant, on behalf of each of your dependants not included in the Generic Application Form for Canada (IMM 0008).

•(If applicable) A signed Additional Family Information (IMM 5406) form,

Should I complete this form one for me and one for my spouse? If I need to complete one for my spouse, do I need to enter my name in the Applicant field in her form?

I understood both the below ones

•A copy of the family member’s valid passport,
•Police certificates for all countries where the family member over the age of 18 has lived for more than 6 months since turning 18,

I think I have to send marriage photos, regular PR photos, birth certificate, and marriage certificate. DO I NEED TO SEND ANY MORE DOCUMENTS?

Please help me in completing this application forms,,, please

After you add her to your application this will go under review and they will analyze your wife's case; after that, you both are gonna receive a response at the same time (it is one application, not two, so it is either accepted or rejected). This is in my opinion going to make it a little bit of a longer wait, but I wouldn't worry too much about it since your application is probably underneath an inch thick curtain of dust.

Seem like the new processing time is calculated from july 2014 applicants. As per this thread july applicants are getting their files processed this month which is 17 month.I do not see any decision made on Aug 2014 applicants which may be end of next month and then they will again change the time to 18 month and Sept applicant may hear something in march and then cic again will update the time to 19 month and finally OCT 2014 applicant may hear something in aprill and for them time could be 20 month if in actuall cic started working on backlog.

What is your thoughts ??

Seniors,

I am an August 2014 applicant. I got married a couple of months ago to a Canadian Citizen.
Please suggest if I should notify CIC about change in my marital status? Would this affect the application negatively or positively and what about the processing time?

Thank you.

I also married a Canadian and am an Aug 1st applicant. My lawyer advised me that this will not affect the application but to be on the safe side I uploaded a copy of the marriage certificate and my wife's passport on the CIC website. I also clearly indicated that as my wife is Canadian, I will not be seeking to add her name to my application. I received an acknowledgement e-mail 10 days later to state that the documents had been added to my file. When I rang CIC in December they stated that they had all the documents they needed and after background checks are completed a decision would be made- I am from a visa exempt country and did upfront Medicals and RPRF. I don't think it will affect processing time.
