Hello everyone!
I received my passport today. Processing time was 33 days. I am sure everyone will get theirs soon, just needs a bit of patience. Thank you all for your support and I wish you all the best.

Hello,

I applied for my passport via mail on March 15th and it arrived to Ottawa on the 16th. I contacted them as I have booked a travel date for May 22, 2022. They asked me to fax them proof of my travel which I did. I contacted them again today and they said that they received the documents but it still needs to be reviewed. I was worried I wont receive my passport on time.

There is a good chance you will get it a week before your travel's date.

I really hope so. They told me if I don't receive it by the 9th then I can call and request a transfer. Do I need to wait for 10 days to receive the expedited passport or can they do it faster for me?

For first time passport application, can we apply in person at the Service Canada offices ? I dont intend to travel in the next 2 months. Is it faster compared with mail in application?
Yes, apply in person at service Canada if it’s your first passport, this way they can check and confirm you filled in everything correctly. This is what we did for ours. Now just because you do it there, it doesn’t mean it will get processed faster. We are still waiting for ours and we applied first week of March at our local service Canada.

thanks - No Service Canada appointments available in 25km of my radius. I am getting an appointment in another city in BC - 40 km drive - do you think it's worth it?

Try in the evenings after 7-8 and mornings before 7. You might see more slots as it gets filled after during regular hours quickly.
If you are applying via regular then you will see short dated appointments.
Are you booking for Jun as i could see that your oath date is mid may?
