1 - Typical service standard is 10 to 20 business days for processing + additional time required for the mail delivery.
You can opt for Express pickup (2 - 9 business days) for $50 or Urgent pickup (next business day) for $110 if you need it faster.

Alright, so had an appointment today at 1 PM - Hamilton Mountain Passport Office - and reached there at 12:10 PM was out at 12:30 PM. The wait time there was 2 hours 30 minutes and so many people were waiting. Having an appointment definitely helps.

3. 12th April - Package processed at Mississauga

If you submitted your application through Service Canada - Regular Service, you can expect to receive it in about 30 days on average. That includes around 20 business days (weekends not counted) plus the time it takes for mail delivery. In my case, it took 31 days to arrive.

I'd suggest giving it a little more time since they don't count weekends (or holidays), and there's an extra 2 to 4 days for mail delivery. Once the portal indicates that it's printed and mailed, you can easily track it through Canada Post using the link they provide.

Yes, the office I went to asked. Not sure about whether it is a requirement or not.

My suggestion would be to take whatever you have to show them that you have travel planned soon. Obviously some things like actual tickets purchased are going ot be accepted. My understanding/experience has been that they are not terribly picky, things like reservations, airbnb, hotels, etc., usually accepted. YMMV. But that's why I say 'take what you have' and hopefully will work out.

If you don't have anything at all, well, then maybe it's not that urgent?

[For those with things like true emergencies - again, take what you have. If it's something like a relative with an accident or a death - take correspondence.]

If it was that long and it is out of their standard time, you are eligible for a partial refund.

Right! my receipt said it was supposed to be here on April 12... so only 3 days behind but still
