that's good news! but I think that what you have been told is only valid if you apply INLAND - which means longer processing time (14 months total) and also NOT leaving Canada for the time of the application ( even for family emergencies etc) - so I would advise you to really consider your options as outland is way faster and allows you to come and go out of Canada if needed...

My question regarding outland though is that when do I get a work permit? Because with Inland you can apply and get one after your app reaches first stage which means 3 - 4 months? Now is that the same for outland or not?

no - there is no work permit for outland, you have to wait until the end of the PR process to work, but the processing is much faster. Stage 1 is stated at 50 days but quite a few people get done before (some that had applied beginning of January already have their approval), and then London is a "fast VO" - straightforward case seem to takes around 4 months to process, sometimes more, sometimes less.

First stage for inland is 6 months.

You should work on restoring your status first - but not sure how - maybe scylla can help, she has more experience than I have.
Outland is for Mississauga, but not sure that it's an option - as you need to restore your status before that.

Well I was told by the guy on the phone I could apply for both at the same time. Visitor and Sponsor but he didnt tell me which sponsor he meant but as you say if he mentioned an OWP then we have to assume its inland. no - it's different. with Inland and OWP, you get implied status, and CIC has a policy of not removing spouse who overstayed if they have applied for Inland PR. because you can only apply if you're in Canada, and there is a work permit after the first stage.
Fr outland, you could be anywhere in the world, so there is no reason to guaranty you ( so to speak) a status in Canada. Now - because you are from a visa-exempt country, you could be in Canada on a tourist visa and applying outland. But it's 2 different processes.

it doesn't mean that you can not restore your status and "turn" into a visitor status. I know how to do it for people that haven't overstayed, but not sure of the procedure in your case because you have overstayed your visa already.

You should read Leon's post in Family Class (just the first post, not the entire thread unless you're really bored) to help decide between Inland versus Outland.

Basically - Inland you'll apply for PR and OWP. Outland apply for PR and Visitor Status restoration OR leave Canada.

If you're just starting the PR process, you'll have minimum 8-10 months before you can work even with the OWP Inland. I saw this because it takes 2-3 months to complete the application process for most people, 6-7 months to get the OWP.

Ask us any more questions, but once you pick Inland Versus Outland, it'll be a lot easier because we'll have the field narrowed, so to speak. It's okay to be confused about the two. I didn't decide until the moment my police clearance arrived. My husband ran off and filled out the Outland forms without telling me - so we decided. (I was so happy he did the forms in a timely manner, I could've died!)

Ok this is getting totally confusing now lol.

Ok so if i choose Inland ill have a wait of about 6 months before I can work but at the same time im not allowed to leave the country. Plus the process takes a lot longer than outland.

If I choose outland its quicker but I cant work until the process is complete and im not able to apply for outland right now because Im currently an illegal alien so to speak (I do have 90 days from 15th Jan to get my stuff together)

So to apply for outland I will have to get my visitor permit first and then apply for outland?

Whereas if i apply for Inland I can send off for both at the same time.

On friday I thought I had zero options and now I find I have too many that its confusing lol.

So how long does it take to get a visitors permit? Is there a time scale for that at all?

Would it still work out quicker if I apply for a visitor permit and then a outland permit as apposed to apply for a visitor permit and inland permit at the same time in a few weeks from now (gotta get all the paperwork sorted of cause)?

The truth is, no one can tell you which will be faster guaranteed - because there are no guarantees with immigration except waiting.

It's possible Outland would be faster. By published times, Inland is faster to get to work legally, but as Sweden pointed out, many London applicants are getting in at 4 months. I guess the answer is: Depends.

Not sure helpful, I know. This part of immigration is kind of a gamble. I had to weigh the same choices and try to decide what was best.
