Hi,
I am Turkish, I am sponsored by my Canadian wife, my application is outside Canada, currently I am in Canada for 9 months with a visitor visa and although I applied to extend my visitor visa duration from 6 months to 1 year I received no answer, my visitor visa is valid till 2024, I received REQUEST FOR SUBMISSION OF PASSPORT at mid April, I am waiting for virtual landing call or email but nothing is happening, I want to go to Turkey to see my parents.
If I go to Turkey now, is it going to be problematic to go and to return back to Canada? Will I be treated as if I expired my visitor visa and will face kind of deport? When I want to return to Canada, even if I spend 6+ months in Turkey, will I need a PRTD?
Thank you

I'm going to risk disagreeing with others - just based on some risks - although I do not know.

I really recommend you try to contact IRCC - by whatever means possible - before you depart to figure out the best way to proceed, and try not to depart before the landing process is completed unless it's clear what you will need to do and when/where. (You don't say when you wish to go to Turkey). Or agree with IRCC that you'll do the passport submission in Turkey, possibly.

I also think it's possible you'd have to get a PRTD in Turkey (if landing completed and no PR card received) - which may not be the worst thing if you apply well enough in advance of your return flight.

I think two possibilities are uncomfortably high if you leave before it gets worked out but I can't say for certain:
-that you get the 'virtual landing' requirement/request while you're abroad and you can't complete it for some reason (it's meant to be done in Canada), and then get caught in some IRCC approval loop where they don't know what to do.
-that it does get 'landed' but they cancel your existing visas (when you become a PR they should no longer be valid), and you don't find out about it until denied ability to board your return flight.
-a longer shot possibility but 'landing' of all kinds requires the PA to land or already be in Canada - which raises possibility that if they determine it was done incorrectly (eg while not in Canada), that they could cancel it and then who knows what would be done (possibly a world of pain).

Since you're late in your process and the virtual landing could come any day, I don't see huge benefits to risking it.

Thank you, I am also worried for these kinds of risks. Meanwhile not even knowing if they will do my virtual landing, because I changed my address from Turkey to Canda during the process, maybe they expect my documents within Turkey. They are giving no information and the ONLY thing I can do is to wait... wait and wait...

Try calling or ask MP to assist. You said you received request for passport, was it clear from that they knew you were in Canada? Did you submit anything to eg Ottawa?

Did the passport request letter provide instructions for submitting if in Canada? Did you submit the passport information as per instructions?

I really don't understand what you wrote above: "I received REQUEST FOR SUBMISSION OF PASSPORT at mid April, I am waiting for virtual landing call or email but nothing is happening, I want to go to Turkey to see my parents."

If they DO NOT KNOW you are in Canada, what are you waiting for? Do you expect them to just guess and send you virtual landing instructions?

Perhaps I've misunderstood what you wrote, but it really makes no sense. Be clear if you want assistance from here.

Yes, there was a form that I must fill. I filled it and there was a reply saying I must do what is said in the email. That was it.
They know i am in Canada. I am waiting them to send me virtual landing email or call. Then I am expecting to get the PR card. After these I will be travelling to Turkey safely but I am afraid it will take too long time. So I am wondering if I can go before virtual landing.

Okay, a bit clearer now.

I repeat the suggestion above: call IRCC and/or ask for assistance from MP. Right now it is probably just a matter of time, and hopefully not much, before you get the virtual landing completed.

Note that when you do get the virtual landing completed, it will take some time - likely months - to get your PR card. You could either have someone send it to you in Turkey when you receive it or apply for a PRTD. If you do the landing before departing and get confirmation that you 'are now a PR', you should be okay and either PR card or PRTD should work to return.

As above, I personally don't think it's a good idea to depart before the landing process is complete, or at least have more clarity than now.

If you leave Canada your virtual landing should be cancelled and you are required to Inform IRCC that you have left the country. Would also suggest remaining in Canada until your virtual landing. Once you land you can go visit Turkey and have your spouse send you your PR card.

I think this is the best option

It has been 2+ months and I am still waiting for PR. Received REQUEST FOR SUBMISSION OF PASSPORT right after 2 months from first one. Will get crazy. Ankara is not responding. Still thinking of going to Turkey and submit my passport. BUT my address is appearing as Canada. If I knew it will be so difficult I would have returned to Turkey before my visitor visa expires.

Have you tried your mp?
