Congrats CairoCouple!!! I am so happy for you, and wish your husband a safe trip. Its so nice to hear good news for once
Do you mind sending me a draft of the email you sent to your MP, that seemed to have worked to get things moving. Once again Congrats!! Hope everyone hears good news soon.
Thank you all for the congratulations. As for the e-mail I sent to my MP, it was very general. I just told them our situation, gave them my husband's case number, and asked them if they had any information about what was happening at the Cairo visa office. They contact the visa office, and I got the sense it was a general inquiry rather than one directed just at our case. This is what I was told by them:
"My best advice would be to continue checking the website for CIC’s estimated processing times every few weeks. If you see a significant change in that time, such as a jump from 18 to 24 months, get back to me and I will try to find out more about the situation. Otherwise, you can expect the processing time for your husband’s application to remain as posted for Cairo.
For the sake of all Egyptians and their families our hope, of course, is that the current violence will subside quickly and the country can begin to find its footing again. I do know that the Canadian consular staff will remain in Cairo as long as possible and will continue their work even with the embassy closed. Nevertheless, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns."
Good luck to everyone! I'll post when we find out more, such as when my husband gets his visa placed in his passport. I'm hoping that won't take too long, but we'll wait and see. There is much planning to do!
All my best!
