Hmm...its the first time i hear about it, probably because my immigration category was different (FSW). Anyway it shouldn't be a big issue, my suggestion is that firstly you should try to obtain it from the sudanese authorities - explain to them the information which you want & the purpose which you need it for, in case they said they cannot issue it - then you can revert back to CIC and request them to waive the requirement since its not possible to obtain it. This is what i would've done if i was in your situation.

well he applied 2 weeks before me .. so end of march .. for my other friends they applied 3 years ago.. and the whole process took only from 5 to 8 months .. and they even dealt with the cairo visa office

Ottawa office started recently 2010 and it handled total of 640 cases then in 2011 it handled 1455
The problem now is; the closure of VO transfering many files to it! They are handling more than what they used to

honestly i feel so grouchy
i feel like Canada and Egypt visa offices don't do their jobs at all , just golfing , bla bla in phones or picking molokhya , lives on edge , they don't care at all , they already don't agree about these relationships ( be careful he will take your money , he want just a visa , he'll marry four women , he'll force you to convert to Islam , you'll pay every pence spent on him during his first three years ) , and if all of that didn't work ..... let us make them suffer waiting .... LONG WAITING .... just to sort them .. the fake relationships will end , but they don't know that they are punishing another full of love relations , beside being far away from your wife or husband isn't healthy for the relationship ... someone isn't patient ( but it's real love ) , someone is having financial problem can't survive all of that long procedures , just doing anything to destruct relations as much as they can
_ i wanna say F$#% Egypt to make us so cheap like that ( i mean it isn't fair at all for all the countries to travel to Egypt and obtain the visa at the airport , i'd treat them exactly like how they treat my citizens .
- F$#@ the visa option , it's god land . i wanna travel . Canada isn't only for Canadians and Egypt isn't only for Egyptians .
- of course both need to make sure we aren't allowing to outlaws to get in the country but also 14 months are TOO MUCH to find out that ... god created everything in 7 days .
- and plus all of that . after getting that golden precious fabulous amazing tremendous bright visa does mean i'm going to the god heaven on earth , of course Canada is a beautiful place but i love my dirty home land more and more , but i mean having the Canadian visa doesn't mean end of all the health financial educational psychological beauty social sporty problems in life , does it ?? .
at the end i wanna say that system should change , nobody is happy .. here or there .
and they are doing their job perfectly at the end ... we don't hear about any fraud marriages or any terrorist attack or any unemployed immigrant or and racism or any or any or any .... it's the god heaven on earth !!!

I am Canadian and I am sponsoring my wife. I think the Canadian government and the minister of immigration should resign. It is unfortunate that we do not act enough to demand changes
