Received the approval from Canada (after 3 months processing) on July 23, 2012 and the letter says that my file was transferred to Cairo visa office.

I hope they start looking at the file after 3 months

As I knew recently that doesn't mean it is actually in Cairo...

Yes I read that in this blog, I also emailed the visa office 10 days ago asking this question by they didn't answer me back.

I have a friend here who has exactly the same case as mine (Sponsoring wife + child) and his case was processed in Ottawa.

Hi Everyone... I need some help!
Our application status online recently changed to "in process" (it was showing 'application received for over 7 months)... the cairo office called us and asked us for an updated police certificate... we dropped it off on Monday... what does 'in process' mean and any idea of what is the next thing we should be hearing and when??..

Hi everybody in CAIRO VISA OFFICE, I wanna ask you, how much time do cairo office need to finish the processing, in CIC web site it is 14 month is it right or might take more?

every case is different...unfortunately, there is no rule

Hi - I don't have exact dates, but here's a summary...

Our application was received January 11 2012. I am Canadian (wife) and my husband is Egyptian - we are living in Egypt so I guess ours was considered outland?...not sure if that makes a difference. We had a problem with our file as it was "lost" for about a month - floating somewhere between Cairo and Ottawa office, we actually submitted a second 'copy' of the entire file - but it was then 'found' and the sponsorship was approved in April (I think I read somewhere that this same thing happened to January applicants). From April until August we didn't hear anything and our status was 'application received' and then in August we received an email from the Cairo office requesting a list of documents that we already submitted with our application and we were told that our file was first handled in Ottawa and then transferred to Cairo and that Cairo didn't get all the documents from Ottawa so they asked us for them! So, we had to submit documents such as marriage certificate, photos from wedding and living in Egypt, proof of travel together, proof of me living in Egypt, etc (all things that we sent with our application!)... We dropped it off at the Cairo office at the end of August and then around Sep 15 my husband received a call from the embassy asking some questions about our marriage and he was told that the reason for his call was to avoid him coming in for an interview (by the way... my husband told me that the woman speaking was extremely nice with him!)...then the next day he received another phone call asking for an updated police certificate so he had that done and we dropped it off on this past Sunday to the office...since this we haven't heard anything - but I did notice our status changed a few days ago to 'in process'...
Dr X - I will try to get exact dates for you, I'm not sure how to add myself to the spreadsheet but you're welcome to use the dates I can get and add...

I'm assuming from your posts, this is good news... but we're still keeping fingers crossed and trying not to get hopes up! Any idea of when we should expect to hear next??

That is very good and promising for your case. Soon it will be all over, as for your question(s): you should expect them to request the passport to stamp it with Visa.
Sorry for the many questions but I am sure you have been through all what are through now. How did you know your file was lost? Because based on what you are saying my file is lost too!
