Thanks, Mr cobain for your reply. I feel a bit relieved.

No problem. Also pls note the statement- "The officer responsible for your file will contact you if any action is required from you. "

Looks like an officer is assigned to your case.

Hi all,

I have been following this thread, and it gives me so much hope reading the wonderful discussions you guys have here :)

I am a July 2011 applicant from US (QSW) and I 've been waiting for more than 16 months now. During this waiting time, I applied and got admitted to do my Ph.D at University of Montreal (for winter 2013), so I send Ottawa an E-mail enquiring about my application status with change of address and details of my Phd admission (I moved to Montreal in November).

Does anyone think it will affect my PR processing, since I will be starting my PhD as a student? I hope they won't ask me to re-apply after two years of my Phd studies!!! Should I worry??
PS: I passed my medicals, and visa office is Ottawa. File got transferred from Buffalo to Ottawa in July 2012.

PS: I am not able to receive PMs in my inbox. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot :)

as I know and as you have the csq, so you should come to quebec and work , not to study
so if you want to get the study permit at this stage you will need the CAQ via the immigration quebec, and so they will see that you will start a new study level , so they may withdrow your CSQ if you want to continue with your study
so you can get just one CSQ or CAQ not the tow at the same time

I don't think they will take away my CSQ while trying to renew my CAQ. I already have study permit and CAQ, but they will expire on March 30th. I have read in the forums that its ok to renew study permit while waiting for PR.

Thanks for your input still :)

On a cheerful note, I saw that at least 6-7 ppl got PPR yesterday and today, and they are still coming. Information from the Les oublies facebook page. :)

Are you planning to land at North Portal or INLAND?

I think I'll plan to do an Inland landing. But really depends on expiry dates for COPR and waiting time to book an appointment.
As I see it I have 3 options (in order of preference)
1) INLAND depending on time taken to book an appointment
2) Rent a car and drive to North Portal. But its winter and I have never driven in Canada before - but I do have a licence. (or on the right!)
3) Since I am visa exempt I think I can fly out, take a day's vacation somewhre interesting and fly back.

Thanks for your best wishes

Nope it shouldn't affect it, one thing which i know of afffects the PR processing is your marital status. I guess you are paying international fees for your PHD program, one thing you should do after getting your PR is to contact your Uni Administration to change your status from foreign student to local student.

Thanks Shaikhaffi :)

Hello biochemgal09, just a friendly note... I saw this on the MICC website

"If you have obtained a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ - Québec selection certificate) under the Programme de l’expérience québécoise (PEQ - Québec experience program) – Québec graduate and wish to begin a new study program, you will be asked to choose between the continuation of your studies and your plan for permanent residence.

Indeed, eligibility for a CSQ is based on your intention to enter the labour market following your current study program. Otherwise, your CSQ could be canceled."

Hi guys, I need your help please...
I'm a march 2011 applicant, medical in November 2011, they are processing my file since septembre 27th 2012, on novembre 9th 2012 they sent me an e-mail asking IF I have ever spent 6 months or more in the US I need to get them my file from the FBI, the thing is I never stayed there for 6 months the maximum that I spent is 4 months and 18 days, I sent them a letter with copies of my passeport and the stamps to explain my situation, they received the letter on novembre 19th according to Canada Post, I sent Faxes and E-mails since then and I still havent received a single respond from them, on the initial letter that they sent me they are saying if they don't get a respond by January 6th 2013 they may close my file.
I don't know what to do I tried to contact them in vain, should I order my file from the FBI anyway? Is there a way to contact the agent that holds my file?

Thanks

There is no any direct way to contact the Agent, but what i can see is they already have got your response and they don't need any further action from your side or they haven't open up your case after they sent you a letter. One thing you could do is to contact MP and ask MP to do such enquiry on your behalf.

To be sure of everything, you may order for GCMS though some say it is not reliable. No way to contact agent directly.

Hmmmm, I had stopped checking my email for the 'tempting' mail daily.
But with recent flow of few PPR, I am tempted to check my email even while at work.

Poor me :(
