I have one question for those who have more experience

I have work permit till January 2013

and I got also the CSQ via PEQ program , and my federal application is in process since more than four months

Now I will not renew my work permit ( cause could not do that for some reasons)

If I switched my status to visitor ? ................could that give me some problems at landing ????

If I get a new work permit with another employer , .....................................................

someone had told me about one year ago that , at the time of printing the PR visa I should have the same status when I sent my application , is that true or not

thank you for your opinions

Since you have a CSQ and are currently in Quebec. All you need in order to get a work permit and extend the duration of your stay is a job offer letter in Quebec. Just apply for any job (even at McDonald's or Tim Hortons) to get an official job offer letter and you will be able to apply for the work permit in person at the US border (by flagpoling), or by mail/online and you will get implied status while your application is being processed.

@ mano2411

congrats

can you share your timeline,please

my medical exams have been extended once by CIC until May 13, 2013. I suspect my medical results have to be valid by the time of landing. This means that I should get a PPR by Mar. 2013. I keep in touch with the office of the MP to watch the progress. May be CIC will again extend my medical exams because I have not left the country since May 2012 and I am not going to. The last thing I want is another couple of months for redoing the medical exams and related evaluations.

How did you know your meds are extended until May 13?

if you are csq holder than you can change employer , you only need a job letter from new employer and csq letter and the application. go to the Border and get work permit

Harvie, Please double check this! Only to renew current WP (or new workpermit) with current employer, not new employer!

I was only able to renew with current employer that way in July, wanted to change, wasn't allowed, stayed with my current, until PPR came in October, then i gave my notice. :)

I was able to get a work permit for a new employer using that method by flagpoling. Perhaps you had a misinformed agent at that time since the operational bulletin 420 was still new

Does it mean we can change the employer even we applied under PNP with Job Offer stream? or its only valid for Quebec?

Hi

I have created the following website to help New comers to Canada to find all the information they need in a single location. I am still working on to update this site. Please do let me know what information I can add to this site to make it more useful.

https://sites.google.com/site/newcanadianimmigrants/

Please feel free to check it

Thanks
Chandra

sorry mate, I can't confirm that, it hasn't happened to me, i renewed my WP. If I would have known...i would have looked for a new employer, but i was in a rush (due to LMO issues) and went from one day to another to the border with my CSQ.

@ all EXPERTS

I have a dilemma. I am planning to apply for my TRV. The standard processing time @ LA office is 30 days. I have to send my passport to the consulate. Although it's highly unlikely that I will get my PPR in the meantime the remote chance does always exist. However, I'm wondering what if I got the PPR while my passport is in process for TRV. Most likely I'll be given 30 days to submit my PPR. Chances exist that I may get stuck @ LA and thus miss the deadline to submit my PP to Detroit for permanent resident visa.

Please suggest what I should do. And, is there anyway around it if it comes to that.

I already emailed CPP-O and they said they couldn't provide a status update and that I may have obtained my TRV in the meantime. How exasperating!
