I am away from my family; spouse and my children for 4.6 years, I tried hard to bring them here but was no luck...

When I said 14months, I mean the time we have been waiting for PR, not how long I've been away from my family. I feel you,
mine is 5years. I tell you it is not easy!

As a graduate student, one is allowed to bring his/her spouse to live with him/her. But my confusion is, now that my PR application
is already with CIC, can my spouse be allowed to visit me?

I doubt, soon they know from her visitor visa application that you have applied for PR, they usually return the applications and ask to apply as dependent in PR application. Did you applied for your family's PR with your application?

Also you should call customer service, rules might have been changed.. Good Luck. I feel for you man.

No sir, all i know through MP is VO is assigned on my case and they have sent the case for background verification to my home country. I have no idea how long that will take..

I am in this same shoe also. I have been waiting for 14months now and I'm dying to have my spouse with me.
Can someone in the forum advice if it is possible that she is granted TRV even as our PR is still awaited?

HOW YOU GET TO FIND MP in your area? MP has obligation to help you even you are not citizen and you have no vote power for him? Is it possible to ask my friend in Canada to contact his MP to check my status (I am in the USA)? Three questions, pls share thoughts.

Hi bkd1969.

Basically most of the MPs have a constituency assistant, who also deals with public relations. If someone goes to the MP office seeking help related to any government issues, they usually try their best to help out. As far as Immigration issues, you need to fill out and sing information to release form for the MP in your city ( your friends city in this case). You might have to fill out one for you friend as well because he will be contacting the MP office on your behalf. You can google member of parliament in your friends city and it should give you the contact information.

Well MP want's to win you, they look to future not the present. Also for them its not a big deal its not the MP who contacts directly to CIC (if there is not urgency or political interest involve in the case) but there assistant takes care of all those stuff and MP himself might not know at all.

What i believe is CIC has given them portal access where they can directly submit the queries or they have secret email address of all Visa Office and MP's assistant send the email to that address. Because the query was sent through MP office, CIC gives it higher importance than the regular queries. In my opnion either you go for GCMS or approach them through MP you almost get same results (as long as you want to know the exact status). if your case gets stuck without any reason it is the MP who can ask CIC to look into it.

I have no idea whether or not your friend can approach MP for your case, but its worth of trying. You can google local MP in your area and you will know whom to contact.

Yes, it is possible. Yesterday I filled the form at MP's office and saw there is an option if you are requesting for yourself or for others.

You can ask your fiend to contact his local MP using his mail id
he can find the MP details from this link

Yes. I got CSQ, my PR application was received on May 31, 2011, then medical received sometime in Nov 2011. And then this buffalo fiasco has kept all of us reeling. I don't know what NOC is, but I have been working for an year now.
