I just think that it is not good to contact them and ask them why background checks are taking so long. If they're taking long, then there must be a reason, whether it makes sense to me or not. They might get "suspicious" about why you're asking.....i don't like it in general to "push" authorities... they don't like to be pushed...and they have the "power" and might even put your file right back down to the bottom of the pile. Thats what i mean with "backfire". I don't wake up sleeping dogs. That's just a personal opinion. They have (or had) my file in their hands for 6 months until they sent me the AOR. (sent to Buffalo, AOR form Ottawa) What they did with it during this time, and what took them 6 months? I don't know...and i don't ask...i'm not (or wasn't) in a rush.... The Contact Information they provide is for "serious" things, and i don't want to offend anybody here by "undermining" or "degrading" their seriousness of their situation. I don't know how to say that the right way. I have my point of view regarding the whole CIC stuff and Immigration Processing System, but that would not be the right thread for it. i consider myself as damn lucky to be slipped through this year with my PR.shaikhaffi said:backfire from CIC or CSIS? in either case i don't agree. Its worth to contact CSIS if your background checks are taking longer that's why they (CSIS) has procedure of contacting them.
nothing particular...BOTH COPR's, your passport....thats it if i remember right.... and i had to write my address on a sheet of paper for my PR card... i had to write down my funds on my COPR and my initials + signature in front of the Officer....no further questions asked...and welcomed.chimbombo said:Hi lepatissier07 I just saw you have landed in Canada.
I was wondering which papers they asked to you at the border when you landed in Canada.
Thanks

I can see so many other applicants sending messages why their processing takes so much time, and all they get is a (possible) computer generated answer to that, everybody the same. Again, i have my point of view.
Anyway,.... everybodies case is different... look at my case...i still don't understand why i "slipped" through so fast! My backgroundchecks must have been extensive considering I lived in 5 different countries for sometimes over 2-3 years...5 Police clearances to give, over 10 different employers, 20 different addresses to be (possibly) doublechecked by them...and BG-Checks were finished in about 2,5-3 months... others takes over a year... why? i don't know....
So,......don't know anymore what to say.... :-X :
hi shaikhaffi,shaikhaffi said:Hello lepatissier07,
Every one has their own point of view, well agree or not CIC is very slow comparing to all other government agencies including CSIS, RCMP and CBA(Canada Border Agency). BG checks highly depend on countries you have lived, countries like Canada, most European Countries, USA, Australia and Newzealand BG checks are very fast. BG checks from such countries should not take more than 2 months. And they don't do BG checks for applicants by the way.
Countries like Pakistan, India, Gulf countries etc BG checks there are very slow because most of these countries don't have computerized system to respond in timely manner therefore requests are responded manually and takes time.
Well they do not have right to push back one's file without any reason that's why you have an option of contacting MPs to find out the reason. CSIS will not tell you why your file is taking too long, all they will tell you whehter or not they have your file, do they have started processing it and if the checks are done, that's it. The response is any of such option. I have seen many cases where CIC or CSIS forgot to send over the results to other department but by contacting them they acted immediately. My own case was sitting on CIC desks for 6 months in buffalo office, when i contacted their manager on May 2012, all she said my file was suppose to go CPP-Ottawa for background checks on December 2011 but didn't went through, believe it or not she sent my file electronically to Ottawa on the same day of enquiry i.e. May 9th 2012. Because of that such experience i don't want them to forget my file again that's why i contact MP every 6-8 weeks to find out how things are going.
Sounds good to melepatissier07 said:hi shaikhaffi,
i only agree at some point with some stuff you wrote, but i don't want to go into much further details, there are many threads here in this forum who went out of control over this subject,..and we want to keep it clean here.
That's normal, you will get your work permit within two weekschimbombo said:Hi guys
Today I was applying to extend my work permit with the same company but at the end when they ask for the required documents. They just ask for Proof of Medical Exam and a Copy of my passport.
I was wondering If this is normal... Why they didn't ask for a letter of employment?
Please check one more time that options you selected while applying online. only proof of medical and passport copy is not enough. I am sure they would ask you at least job offer letter and some cases LMO. for CSQ holders LMO is exempted.chimbombo said:Hi guys

If you are exempted from job offer I guess you are good to go.
good luck

PNP certification usually expires after six months to 8 months of issuance, it will not affect your PR. The reason of expiry is that you should apply for PR before that date else you would need to re-apply for nomination.xse2573 said:Hello All
