Can anyone tell me something about processing times:

it says 17 months for 80% cases in Buffalo Office

Question: When does the 17 month period start? from the date of 2nd AOR or some other date?

my 2nd AOR is Apr 28 ... does that mean my processing lingering on until Sep 2011 is normal?????

you may get medical or document request by Feb 2011, after that security check happens; time for security check depends on case by case (for simplest case, may be 2-3 months), then final - passport for PR.

I was not aware about danhass's current status, and had responded just by his/her last message.
My own 2nd AOR date is April end or May 1st week; and I guess, progress for applicant having dates near to that period, in or by Feb 2011; there is quota of visa for each visa office which gets filled approx. by end of Oct/Nov; and since there would be enough cases waiting for action in Jan ; so I hope action for most of us by Feb.

Best way to guess progress is CAIPS notes, I was simply applying logical guess (assumption).

2nd AOR Date: 29 April, 2010

Last week I got a renewed work permit that extended my permit to august 2011 and submitted a scanned copy to the buffalo visa office via the case specific tool. They replied with the following message:

Dear Sir,

This is in response to your email (see below).

Your application is in queue for review. An exact review schedule is not yet available. No further action is required by you at this time.
We thank you for your patience and for keeping your correspondence to a minimum.

and its the only one time i sent them email. my ecas is still showing Received by visa office till now. no updates at all, i am so worried after reading your post...........

ITs really a long waiting period. It has been one year next month since they received my application. My second AOR is 05May.

why Buffalo is dead quiet. so frustrated.

I got the same reply from Buffalo about a month ago. No idea what is happening. Next year January, we may expect further instruction. Let see what happen.

It has been, more than 8 months since my application is on process, 14 months since 2nd AOR, but no Medical Request yet. Frustrated, loosing control.

I am also very close to expiration of my work permit. I see in your comments that you just got your renewed work permit.

when did you apply again for getting new work permit?
did you get LMO befoe applying extesion of work permit?
how long it took to get these permit?

I got a letter in august saying my new wp will take 16 weeks to process and thereafter i got my renewed wp in the mail on december 09, 2010...

I am also IT worker and my current work permit also expires in aug 2011.

So, I am not sure how many months before I need to start getting LMO( my friends told me that I need to apply before 6 months!!!)

That means, I should get my PR card before March2011(by looking at the current processing times, I have no hope) otherwise I need to start getting LMO.

I already completed 9 months after my 2nd AOR..hoping for the good luck in new year
