He pretty much just avoided explaining himself and said 3 of 5 years is what he feels is correct. He didn't fight to justify it at all.

Sounds like typical Liberal politics...Not sure why we want to change things, but if the Cons passed a law, it must automatically be wrong. He had the exact same answer when asked to justify his loosening of the language requirements.

What a joke and what a waste of taxpayer money.

I share hope with your as long you change your mind and care of 3/5 ;) :'(
Please...
Well, of course I'd prefer 3/5 instead of 4/6. With 3/5 I could apply today, whereas with 4/6 and temporary residence counted I could apply in June 2017.

Hi Marceau,

I actually think it will be faster for you if you wait till June 2017 to apply under 4/6 law because if they change it to 3/5, hundreds of thousands of people will apply at the same time.. I know many people waiting.. so processing time will be 24 months rather than 6-12 months as it is today.
Unless you are planning to apply and leave Canada after that, I bet 4/6 in June will be faster than 3/5 today.

Good luck!

I had a specific question regarding this. Say the Royal Assent happens by December, and the implementation happens by June 2017. Would the intent to reside rule change by December, or by June?

I'm not one of those people that want to apply for their passport and leave the country, but I do have a temporary 8-month work assignment starting in Jan 2017 AND I'm eligible for citizenship by the 4/6 rule also in early Jan

According to the current rules, citizens have to 'intend to reside' during and after when they attain citizenship.
Check out the Intend to Reside section on CIC's website
