Re: BOWP Rules Changed ?

I am the August 31 online applicant that got approved last Friday (Nov 27).

I received a request 2-3 weeks before my approval for a copy of my AOR, which I thought was odd. I didn't submit it originally with my application because I didn't for my first BOWP.

I haven't requested GCMS notes so I don't know what my eligibility status is. I have not received anything since the AOR in November 2014.

Hi joolery

for a copy of AOR with the application, did you attach a copy of the email you received or just provided them with the application number ? can you please advise, as you have already applied for BOWP and got an approval ?

i am wondering for similar too...
is there anyone who has applied BOWP in early September and got approved or refused...?
i would like to talk to them please...
My application was Sept 9th, I will post my results as soon as I receive them.

Don't you think CIC making the rule of "can not apply BOWP until the last 4 months of original WP", together with the processing time being 116 and 119 days, is a strategy of letting applicants to enter implied status before CIC refusing applications, instead of giving out any possible time window to re-apply before original WP expires?

I am waiting for any other reporter to publish another news story on these BS, showing Canada what CIC truely is.

Have you guys consulted any immigration lawyer ??

Hi Pearl
Yes , you can ask me what is it?

Guys , I am from the CEC Aug 2014 Thread , many of us have posted answers to your questions in the last 2 days regarding BOWP new rules.

Check it here : http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/cec-august-2014-application-t365220.510.html

I just wanted to add my two cents here from my experience working at a business with people from 19 different countries; I hear a lot about people's different immigration experiences.

One of my friends at work advised me not to apply BOWP at all, but just for an open work permit. I thought they were the same thing but actually they seem to have different description pages on the cic website. She told me just to select 'initial work permit' on the application form and I should be able to get that. For my personal situation she told me not to go BOWP option.

Any one agree or disagree that this is a viable option for people here too?

Hi muskwa,

A BOWP is an open work permit. The option regarding initial work permit, or work permit with the same employer doesn't really matter. Somewhere in the application, you just have to indicate that you have an active PR application and since your current one is expiring, you are applying for a bridging work permit.
I attached my AOR and post grad work permit in the extra document section along with a letter explaining the situation. I think most people have done the same way.
There is no separate form that suits the BOWP situation.

Hope that helps.

I Agree, if you are applying for extension to remain in canada as a worker while your PR application is in process it is implied that you're applying for BOWP. By the way in the form you have to select Open Work Permit as there is no other option specified as "BOWP".

Thanks for your replies. I thought that too but she was pretty sure they were different lol.

I spoke with my immigrant consultant and showed him exactly the different of rules in the past, and the changes.
Past: eligibility passed or AOR
Now: Eligibility passed and AOR

His advice was this change is unlikely to incur BOWP rejections. He stated: if anyone's eligibility is refused, it would mean that applicant does not qualify for CEC for reasons such as work experience, NOC, etc. and CIC would have already refused the application as the fundamental eligibility is refused. Although August to Oct 2014 applications GCMS do not have eligibility specifically set as "passed", it does NOT assumes refusal of eligibility in any way and would not be the ground of BOWP rejection. In other words- BOWP will be rejected only if applicant's eligibility has failed.

His advice was not to worry about too much unless a great amount of BOWP get rejections in the next week or so.

Anyone who has recent results on their BOWP applications please report results.
