I got my BOWP approved on Monday thought my WP was valid for more than 4 months. I have been PMed by few ppl asking for letter I sent so here it is for the benefit of general public.

Sub: Request to consider my application for Bridging Open Work Permit

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am XXX in Toronto, Canada since DATE. I have applied for Permanent Resident under Canadian Experience Class in Nov 2012. I have received my confirmation from CIC that the application has been accepted for processing and I am currently awaiting medical examination request. Though my current work permit is valid until DATE I would like you to consider my application for bridging open work permit due to below reason.

The contract between my employer and the client for whom I am currently working is terminating by end of Aug 2013, so I will have to leave Canada but I would like to stay in Canada and look for a job. So it would be helpful if I have an open work permit until I know the decision on my PR application. Hence I kindly request you to consider my application for bridging open work.

I hereby promise to leave Canada upon the expiry of the issued open work permit if a decision is yet to be taken on my PR application within the issued open work permit period. I have attached a copy of the confirmation e-mail I received from CIC with this letter.

Hi Guys,

I've a question about BOWP. right now I'm on PGWP set to expire Dec 6 2013. I've applied for MPNP and received AOR on July 8. Right now I'm working as full time (NOC Code 2171) however my job is term basis and ending on Feb 1st 2014.

I checked the BOWP requirement and seems to be eligible to apply anytime after 6 August 2013

I've a question regarding form IMM5710E. I've mentioned in 1st question :
I'm applying for one or more of following: A work permit with new employer. is this correct ?
the reason behind selecting this option is, my current job will end on Feb 1 2014 and i would need open work permit for new employer. Also I've provided all details in this form about my current and past employment (from India).

also as a part of application they are asking to upload a digital photo, is this a new process/requirement?

Any suggestion on these 2 question?

I was thinking to provide explanation letter and AOR along with Job Offer Letter. I've completed and validated IMM5710E form.

At the beginning question 3

I'm applying for one or more of the following:

Restauration of temporary resident status as a worker
Initial temporary resident permit or extension of temporary resident permit

which one I should choose?
Actually I'm working the same employer but as it mentioned in tips, I;m not going to send my offer letter with BOWP application.

I submitted my BOWP today online and paid by credit card. The online payment generated a confirmation note for payment but that confirmation note doesn't has my cliend I'd or name on it. Is this Normal or should I call CIC help desk to confirm on payment ? Any suggestion ?

Hi ,

Currently I am on closed WP which will be expiring next week . I am planning to apply for BOWP before its expiry . Will I still be considered to be on implied status and continue to work or I will have to stop working ?

implied status if u apply before closed wp expire.After expiry restoration+wp and not allow to work untill new wp approved. I suggest u to do paper application before closed wp expire so u get implied status and keep working

I selected the "other" because it gave me an option to explain that I'm applying for BOWP. No special reasons.
I guess both are acceptable

Today I'd like to complete the application of but the website guided me to temporary residence visa application.

I was in a similar situation and ended up sending in a paper application.

Try deleting your previous online application, and after that start over again by clicking on "Apply Online". It will ask you for your personal checklist number there, and then you can enter and probably continue.
This is a worth a try because all you might loose is only your personal information which you might have to enter it over again taking about 45 minutes to 1 hr, but you can complete the application online this time. Since the system is working for other people it should also let you submit your application. If this works this would save you about $30-40 in mailing charges and more importantly will cause you less grief since online applications are procesed way faster than paper applications. If that doesn't work then you'd also have to send a paper application porbably like me.

Try and let me know, if that works.
