Guys,

Please advise me if I should go for online application for BOWP or paper based. Also, I need to apply Open work Permit for my wife and Vistors Record for my son.

Can we do all these through online?

Thanks Please advise!

I decided to start preparing my BOWP application for next week and had a few questions...

1) In the document checklist (IMM 5556E) it mentions that you have to include "Job offer letter or contract from the employer giving job title, wages and working conditions." >>> We all know to apply for an open work permit and not mention the employer on form IMM 5710, so do I also not include my employment contract? I don't want to confuse them and have them think I want a closed work permit...

2) Just to make sure: I do not need to include a stamped receipt (IMM 5401) if I pay the fee online, correct?

It's interesting how many items I can check off from the document list as they don't (seem to) apply to my application and situation. It's quite an easy application, or am I missing something?

Thanks guys!

Hello LCM,

Are you planning to apply online via myCIC.

Also,

Please scan through this thread and you should be able tto get your answer.

I think you also mention the Bulletin code where tthe BOWP wwas announced.
Thanks,

I believe you can apply for the first two online, not sure about Visitor Record but probably also possible.

Would highly recommend online application since it's much faster and there's smaller chances of making mistakes. You also get notifications from MyCIC when application is processed.

Hi bahadur,

I have read the whole thread :-) Just don't remember seeing anything specifically about whether the job contract should be included or not. I will send the application via courier to buy myself some more time. Yes, I'll include the OB 485.

Thanks..this..

One more thing, my WP is expiring october 7 this years and I applied my CEC in Jan and got AOR in FEB.

Do you think, I will have something concrte by october.

What is the best time to apply for BOWP ?

Based on what the others on this forum said, I would recommend that you wait with applying for the BOWP until September. That way you can get the most out of your current permit. If you were to apply for your BOWP now, it will override your current permit.

@bahadur30: You already have something concrete which is the AOR and this should suffice when you apply for BOWP. As LCM21 said try to get the most out of your current work permit and then finally apply for BOWP which should be sometime around August

Since i am unemployed and desperately in need of a job and have been very unlucky in terms of finding an employer who will do the LMO for me, what do you mean that one needs to wait as long as we can to order for a BOWP.

Especially in my case, as the situation is tricky and I will be applying for my PR latest by mid July this year.

What I meant, and I think people have already posted on this...but applying too far in advance for your bowp (beginning of the 4 months) - like I did - will only result in a new permit overriding the old one. Meaning, if you have 3 months left when the new is issued, it will supersede the old one. So, instead of having 3 months left + 12 months...it will be 3 months left + 9 months new (equaling 12 months from the issue date). I would suggest, if you can, wait until you can get the full use of it...so time it to whatever the processing average is published by CIC.

Best of luck...
